Do We Have a 2020 "Two Week Wait" Thread Yet?

Got the green light at the vet today to get semen shipped tomorrow! Thursday is the day then the wait!

I am on my second try with my mare, if she doesn’t take this time… I am out for the year. Fingers crossed, but vet isn’t overly excited as she isn’t presenting the best follicles to breed on.

Good luck, @RTF and @Lv2rid3!

My Windfall x Avignon II mare has been bred and a heartbeat detected with E.H. Herzensdieb! Unfortunately she lost this pregnancy last year, so fingers crossed it sticks this time! She is being bred as part of the breeding program with Lasting Star Equestrian on a breeding lease, but I am excited to share this foal will be mine!

Well we had our two week check today and we had twins. Rushed her off to overnight at the vets. Vet was able to separate the smaller embryo. She’s on banamine and regumate now. Hopefully the remaining embryo stays.

Thinking sticky thoughts for you, @Interstellar.

Excited to say that my mare took on her second try! I bred Escher DFEN to my registered Irish Draught, for an exciting Irish Draught sporthorse.

Congratulations, @Lv2rid3 and @RTF! My mare has safely passed the 45 day mark and should be shipping to me either next week or the week after.

I had mine checked and no love. I was pretty sad, we were just checking to see if it was even a possibility and when my vet checked her he said she looked better than ever. And the stallion owner was fantastic and got the semen sent, and then Fedex let it sit inMemphis for a day 😢. She had a lot of fluid when we checked her so I told my vet not to try again, there’s no point pushing rocks uphill. I was all for it when she looked great but not when there are issues. I do have to admit, that everytime one of my mares is not in foal, I secretly think they are pregnant 😉. Does anyone else have that issue?

Ugh. I’m sorry, @Justice. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that the next cycle goes better.

Sorry Justice! And yes, you are not alone in thinking/hoping there will be a foal next year. This did happen to me once! Didn’t know she was pregnant until she was 8 months along. The repro vet had said ZERO chance of pregnancy…

And I did a thing, while I have just about stopped breeding, just one foal in 7 years. I had a moment in all of the covid insanity, and called my vet to breed my homebred Izabelle (Zarr X Fleur de Lis). She was bred within five days on Easter. I cannot wait to see this foal by Carrico. I’ve loved watching him compete and he is absolutely stunning in person.

Yay Anne! Can’t-re, you will love your Carrico. I’ve had two and kept the last one which is a complete Jupiter throwback. Congratulations! I’m not trying again, instead my sweet 24 year old mare is back in work since we have tried to retire her twice and she hates it. I was hoping to keep her happy & pregnant but she’s just as happy having a kid come ride her. We were actually breeding to a small pony, Clanfair Hallmark. I’ve ridden one of his get and it was fabulous and love the stallions in the sire line. Was excited for a golden pony, but just not meant to be. Can’t-re I can’t wait to see your foal! My first was bay with blaze & 4 white and a skunk tail, second chestnut with a strange star/stripe and a flaxen and white tail. Mane looks flaxen but hard to tell at this point.

Thanks Montanas_Girl and Justice!

Since Carrico and Izabelle are both bay with a blaze, the foal is very likely to come out the same. But to have some extra fun bling would be great too! Congrats on your Carricos Justice. I hope the mane stays flaxen on the one you kept. Is is a colt or filly?

My problem mare, Moms Image, was just bred again yesterday. Culture taken Friday showed mild yeast growth, vet says it could be nothing or maybe real pathology. Will check her Monday and treat as necessary.

To recap: bred in early Feb, caught right away. Had healthy embryo with heartbeat at 25 days. Lost it before 40 days. Took forever to come back in, bred again in April, May, and June, not pregnant. Feeling rather desperate now. She never has fluid, but I do the oxytocin protocol anyway.

Ugh, @EventerAJ, that’s so frustrating. I’m sorry. Fingers crossed on this cycle.
