Does anyone have experience with offspring from these stallions?

Does anyone have experience with offspring from the following stallions?

Calato
Casiro
Clarimo
Catoki
Numero Uno
VDL Harley

I’ve gathered quite a bit of information on them and am now interested in hearing from those who have worked with or seen offspring. I’m most interested in finding out what they’ve been consistent in producing, both positive and negative.

Am also looking for conformation photos of Clarimo and Casiro.

Many thanks.

We had a Calato foal out of an Ephebe For Ever mare in 2010. She was as close to perfect as you can hope for. We sold her before she was weaned. We also have a Calato x Cantus mare who produced a Asca Z Colt and Ariadus colt who are top!

Given the correct mare, he’s a superb stallion to breed with.

Cheers

I tried to breed to Numero Uno last year, but could not get either of my mares pregnant. To be fair, I received three straws, used 2 on one mare and one on the other.

I have a Calato x Lacapo x Carneval broodmare; you can see photos and a video of her on my website. She is large, kind, powerful and has a strong Capitol influence. She is one of my favorite mares, she had superb rideability, presence, is a great mother who makes lovely foals and is a gem to have around. I have seen a few other Calatos, mine is a little larger than the others, but in general I like them…modern enough looking but with the Capitol rideability. I’m partial to Capitol sons though, so take it as you will  I would buy another one one day or try to breed with him though.
Some of Holsteiner peeps could probably chime in too with more info.

3 doses VDL Harley semen did not yield a pregnancy in a very fertile mare with a top repro vet. I’ve not been able to find anyone who has had success with it either.

We tried too, did not take.

My Contender mare has produced two Catoki fillies and is currently in foal to Catoki. Only one dose was use for each pregnancy. My mare is quite nice and Catoki added some refinement and prettier heads. These two are obviously a very good match and the fillies are quite special. The oldest has just been started under saddle and she is very smart and willing to please. I plan on breeding her back to Catoki again this year.

I love Catoki in general, but I think Carol is sold out. You should check with her.

After two unsuccessful breedings, I had the Harley VDL semen analyzed by Rood & Riddle. Looks good under the scope with decent enough numbers but 3 perfect breedings on a young, proven mare yielded nothing. He’s a lovely stallion, with a killer pedigree, but I’d save yourself a lot of trouble and look elsewhere.

I have some Catoki frozen semen. If you are interested PM me. :)

I have seen a number of Casiro I foals, and I know his mare, full brother and granddam. I have only heard about his semen, and I was told that multiple pregnancies up in Canada. I would consider him an improvement sire, but you can get large, but not heavy.

Tim

Thank you everyone for the valuable insight!

Tim, do you know where in Canada Casiro was used?

I don’t know, I had gotten the information from Suprior Equine. Carol should have the info.

Tim

Casiro is by Cassini I / Landgraf / Ramiro stamm 318d1 and is a really good producer. He sired approved full brothers out of a Sandro mare that are spectacular…Castellan I & II .

I bought a Casiro I / Canturo / Acord II filly from stamm 776 and she wound up being a 50 point mare with a 9 for jump and ride I believe. He makes em good.

Número UNO

I tried 6 full doses of Número UNO semen with top rated breeding facility Petersen and Smith over 4 months of my mare being in their care. The mare had no fertility issues. The semen was good under the microscope. We had no success. We switched stallions and the mare took first try. Extremely expensive and no success…

Worker Bee - I feel ya! Took a proven broodmare and used 8 straws (usually 6 straws) and a repro facility that gave me a 100% first time conception rate for the past two years- NADA. She is now un foal to Coronett II - first cycle.

Nothing to add but I do really like Catoki and would also like to know more about him.

VDL Harley is hard to get in foal. There was a few pregnancies out there, but conception is way low. Kathy

I was hoping to use Número Uno in 2013, has anyone had success with him?!

Ditto here on no luck with Numero Uno semen on a fertile mare who has otherwise always gotten in foal on the first try. That being said, I do know a breeder who has a couple of Numero Uno’s bred via frozen and ET, so it can be done.
