I am so very sorry to hear of your dog’s diagnosis - have you or your vet contacted the University of Florida’s animal hospital yet? They have ongoing research on pythiosis - we’ve been battling it here in Florida since forever. Keeping fingers crossed and sending jingles.
Once more I would like to thank everyone for all the support, jingles and very helpful information.

The lab confirmed the presence of Pythiosis when they re-checked the biopsy sample from the first surgery, (Oct 19). Would have been nice to save 30 days of time and suffering and all that $$$$. 
But now we know, and we have scheduled him for surgery tomorrow morning.
Jingles for clean margins are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, I will post as soon as I can after surgery.

Hoping for a good outcome and recovery after the surgery. I know what you are going through. My thoughts are with you.
Surgery is done, they removed the mass. He is resting comfortably thanks to good drugs.
Fingers crossed the anastomosis holds, heals, and does not leak. They said it will take 5 days for the anastomosis to be healed enough that they can say it won’t leak.
Cautiously optimistic that they got all the Pythiosis.

My computer (Windows Vista) is now the one that needs life support. I have been burning up the keys trying to find an affordable source for Intraconazole. It’s a medicine Himself should take for three months, but at $700.00 a month, it’s out of our price range.
The vet school warned that the cheap generic does not work, and the name brands Onmel, and Sporanox or the generic by Patriot Pharmasutials are the only choices they recommend.
I am hoping to get some financial assistance from the drug’s manufacturer. Himself has no insurance or income and those are their main criteria for granting assistance .
