Do you know her personally? I think that if she were deserving of empathy and not outing, the family would be the first to defend her.

I have no stake in any of this but I am disgusted and feel that the way the elders were treated is criminal. If she were mentally ill I doubt she could organize the website in such a way that markets the way it does. She’s smart enough to know to take the horses off site to take photo’s…she KNOWS she’s living like a pig and people don’t want to see it. A seriously mental ill person would miss that. She’s not dumb either - the average Joe on Craig’s List doesn’t get that they need to present their horses and property as well as she does. “Narcissistic” seems like a better identifier for her.

Whether Jill Burnell is mentally ill or not is an interesting discussion but irrelevant in relation to our forum. Why she does any of the things she does doesn’t matter. What does matter is there is an ever growing list of people who have been harmed financially by this woman. I think it is important to warn people that doing any sort of business with her is not worth the risk and they should steer clear. Arguing cleanliness and culpability just clouds that message in my opinion. If her house and barn area were so clean you could operate on it would that make her criminal activity less criminal? If not then her lack of cleanliness doesn’t make it worse.

It’s easy to forget to turn the email option off when you make a new username. Checking a poster’s profile and clicking ‘Send a message via email to [username]’ furnishes an email address surprisingly often.

This. Any time this thread goes off topic, the message the SIL came on here to deliver is diluted. Bottom line is buyer beware. As a stallion owner, the conditions in which she is preparing her product to send to mare owners is deplorable. That lab is the most appalling thing I have ever seen. Broken bottles of meds next to semen processing materials? Scary.

I think everyone who is owed a refund or what not could hire an attorney in her area and all join in on one filing.

Maybe you could move to execute a rather large judgement against the mares she still has/stallions?

Ive seen assets like that liquidated in special situations.

I am new to this forum and only came here to read this, thanks to a friend. I’m an avid facebooker and I have been friends with the Redwine/ Gray Fox Farms clan on facebook for quite some time now. She is still posting updates and info online here and there. I am in disbelief after reading this thread. Here I am; someone who thought she was a stand-up person with tremendous stallions and broodmares. A friend of mine posted a thoroughbred mare from CANTER on these forums awhile back and Jill was the first one to stand up and purchase her. She was on her website for awhile and then disappeared. I do wonder what happened to her; she was lovely :(.

I feel for any animal, especially the horses who are, unfortunately, in her care.

The first and far more important issue is that of her parents health. I am glad to hear that family has stepped in. The next is of the number of animals that have been in her care or lack of care. I hope that someone will speak up for them.
I am someone who made the mistake of buying semen from her and received nothing, not even from that mess she called her lab! I have a contract with her and am curious if any restitution will be extended to the many people who have sent money her way and were deceived. I can only hope! her fraud scam was convincing and I am sure there is a long line up of people waiting to hear what will happen.

It’s such a shame, I hope she gets help. And that the horses are rehomed to loving forever homes where they are appreciated.

Just out of curiosity why haven’t three creditors got together to put her in an involuntary bankruptcy? Is it because she qualifies as a “family farmer” under the bankruptcy code? I do not know enough about the “family farmer” category of the bankruptcy code to know if it includes horse breeding operations. Seems like an orderly liquidation here would be best for all involved.

After looking at those pictures I have cleared all my piles of clutter from the kitchen counter and my office and all filing is up to date. Sheesh, what a mess.

the one thing i know about bankruptcy is that anyone who has a claim and who is NOT included in the bankruptcy filing will end up with zero.

and since it appears she owes a large amount of $$ to a large amount of entities - my guess is that folks would not see a dime.

i think that the only way forward for folks is to organize and work hard to make sure this is all brought to light in the real world and justice served…

ps in sonoma country horses are classified as pets - not livestock…

I don’t know Jill, I don’t breed, never will, don’t do hunters have no skin in the game other than the same as many others, an interest in putting a stop to a criminal that has been getting away with it WAY to long.

I was ripped off by a business in IN in Dec of 09 for $2500. Not a lot of money in the scheme of things, but a lot of money for me. I knew that the background of the business was sketchy, but I thought I had done my homework and had another document drawn up and signed by the business owner before I sent any money that I thought would cover me. To make a long story short, coming up on 3 years later, I ended up suing them in court, but more importantly, filed a consumer complaint with the Indiana Attorney Generals office Consumer Protection division. I posted on the internet and got other victims to do the same. This person was saavy in that he only did business, from what I can tell, with people some distance away to that it would make it unlikely that they would go to the effort and expense of pursuing him. He didn’t count on dealing with me LOL. I also reported him to the FBI as he required that the money be done via a bank wire transfer. They are also pursuing him. At this point, because I have kept the pressure on the AG’s office, they have finally filed contempt charges against him, and if he doesn’t comply with the required restitution payments by Sept 20th, they will issue a warrant for his arrest.

So my suggestion would be for EVERYONE that has been ripped off by this woman to contact the CA AG’s office, I looked and they do have a consumer complaint division. The link is provided below. They are REQUIRED to investigate any complaints filed, and of course the more complaints they get that are similar in nature, the more powerful the case will be. The important factor in my case, has been that I have been relentless in following through with the AG’s office, following every step and insuring that they do, in deed, file the next legal document so that it has not gotten “dropped by the way side”. I will eventually get my $2500 back, but more importantly, I will have stopped the train that has been on the tracks for many years, from continuing on to the next victims.

I am so sorry for what you’ve gone through. At this point, shouldn’t everyone get together and try and go after her as one? Are there any lawyers on the board, is this possible? I’m astounded by the number of people this has happened to, yet nobody has come forward!

And to the person who said they didn’t think Redwine’s conception rate was an issue…I have heard privately from an overwhelming number of people with open mares. But I have no idea what the total number is and if it’s even relevant as it is likely human error after seeing the lab.

Honestly, all you guys that have been screwed really need to stand up and band together now, if nothing else, to prevent it from happening to someone else.

There is a proof of claim process in a bankruptcy proceeding. Even people who are not included on the bankruptcy schedules can file a proof of claim if they can back up that claim with documentation (which it seems would be easy to do for most people in this case). Whether they get anything would depend on whether there is money left over for the unsecured creditors once all non-exempt assets are liquidated and all secured and priority creditors are paid.

I agree 100%. I think she is a criminal and criminals come in crazy and sane. Neither has been proven yet but it IS irrelevant - it needs to be stopped.

Hardly surprising given the state of her breeding lab. God knows what contaminants end up in the semen.
