Doing business with JILL BURNELL? BEWARE.

Is this the larges posted topic in COTH history? Just curious

“but I think you just pull hairs from your filly and send them someplace that has Redwine’s DNA on file (like UC Davis) and ask that it be checked against his.”

Or just call the Maury Povich show…
There are also several links to this thread on the GFF FB page!!

If you “Google” Jill Burnell the following appears:

Jill Burnell
Jill Burnell Gray Fox Farms
Jill Burnell warrant
Jill Burnell foreclosure

I’m no genius but I’d say this “screams” RUN!!!
Oh, gosh. That is scary!

I can copy and paste the emails from the Jockey Club, Old NA and UC Davis if you want, otherwise suffice to say that it is nowhere near as simple as you make it sound. And since I don’t think it is an issue in the first place I don’t think I want to fight this battle right now.

I agree with laurierace, it is never simple. I had a mare who the old owners never bothered to register. Sire on file with X registry, dam on file with Y. Getting the dots connected, impossible. I was asked for a breeding certificate, which I couldn’t get, and then the dam’s mane hair, which I couldn’t get, etc. I finally gave up, and never got her registered which was very annoying since she is fully eligible to be!

When I google Jill Burnell this is the third result. First is her FB page, second is her warrant, and this is third.

Lets tag this a bit more.

Jill Burnell
Gray Fox Farm
Grey Fox Farm
Redwine Stallion

(fixed  )
Oh Please. Are you incapable of posting the correct name for her farm?? Or are you trying to stir the pot and drag reputable farms that have nothing to do will JB into the mess.
In your case, I suspect you just want to stir the pot.
There are two GREY FOX FARMS
One is an Eventing barn in FL.
The other is a well known H/J barn that happens to be in CA but has no connection with JB.

Well the Jockey Club just found me in their records and offered their apology so that problem is solved. They are forwarding her information to Old NA. We’ll see what happens now.

I guess you could look at that way, but I was assuming that they were just trying to include the people that don’t know the correct spelling for Jill’s farm. It is a word with two legitimate spellings…

I would be surprised if it was in the top 50.

I am Canadian
Someone may want to cross post this on the Canadian BB Equiman Forums…to see if there are more people there that have been wronged…
Please let me know if anything can be done for us breeders in Canada who have lost money on breedings. I have a contract paid in full but not even an attempt was made to send me semen when I needed it.

Deardra75 - worming your boy every month is really not a good thing. Take fecals on him to determine if he even has worms now and if he does what worms does he have so you are giving the right wormer. Too much worming can result in resistant worms.

If you don’t know the correct spelling then don’t guess or ASSume that others won’t either.
So what if it has two legit spellings, the other farms have nothing to do with this mess. Are you not getting why dragging farms that have nothing to do with JB into this is a problem? Or are you that challenged?
Hey let’s add Equinedriver to the list of names that should be tagged as part of JB.

THIS thread is about JILL BURNELL GRAY FOX FARMS - Northern California

Ummm No, I am not just “trying to stir the pot and drag reputable farms that have nothing to do will JB into the mess”. That would be you jumping to conclusions, making assumptions and allegations.

I added the other spelling, because on this very thread there were people confused with the spelling, and wondering why this thread wasn’t coming up when they Googled. There are two ways to spell gray / grey, and people tend to use them interchangeably.

Why would I be purposely “dragging other farms into this mess”? That makes no rational sense. Sorry there are two farms in this large country that share the other common spelling. I would assume if someone was looking for an eventing barn in FL, they would not be confused by a thread about a breeder named Jill Burnell that does “hunter breeding” in California.

How do YOU know that everyone that searches for JB’s farm knows which of the two correct spellings of grey / gray to use? We want them to find this thread.

Here I will make it clear (in case there is any one that clueless out there that goes OMG that is grey with an E, MUST be the same farm!!!):

To any one that stumbles upon this thread looking for GREY Fox Farm in FL (event horses) OR GREY Fox Farm in CAMARILLO, CA – this thread is not about those farms. This is about JILL BURNELL and GRAY FOX FARMS in Petaluma (or soon to be Marin County) that is a HB breeder.

And what was most frustrating is that one of the registries had both parents DNA on file, but wouldn’t register without a covering certificate. We are talking a 13 year old mare, with a dead sire who stood overseas. I contacted the place that stood him and as I expected I never heard a peep from them (why would they, right?).

Anyway, it’s not always as easy as it should be or as it seems.

Re JB, I do wonder about all the horses, where they are and how they are doing. Hope all is well in that regard.

PM Equinedriver with your information.

Do you EVER contribute anything worthwhile?

Hello
I talked to my vet about worming my horses every month… the reason why we do it here in the South because worms are more of a problems… since we don’t get a good freeze sometimes the next year its pretty bad… But my vet said it was okay. I know if you worm with the same wormer it can stop working so rotating out is good. :).
When we first got him out here. we did a fecal on him and he was worm free… So that is good… I also have had to move my horses a bit in this year so I just want to cover all my bases. We do a fecal on mine 2 times a year. Hopefully this next year I won’t have to worm every month and go back to doing every 3 to 4 months.

Yeah that is really outdated info but let’s leave that discussion for a different thread.

Appsolute- don’t worry about her, all she EVER does is post snark and nothing helpful :frowning: For the record, I don’t think you are stirring the pot!
