Jill Burnell and Gray fox Farm COTH thread is on page three of google search now.
Google.ca a Jull Burnell search brings this thread on page one at number 2…

I’m not sure if anyone has seen this thread yet. It’s another person burned by Jill Burnell of Gray Fox Farm in August 2011. I think someone should contact her and tell her to contact equinedriver

This was the thread I was referring to earlier, when a GFF supporter argues that it’s somehow it’s the buyer’s fault that she didn’t get what she paid for. See all the posts by “Wyominggrandma.” Same old story there, I hope the wronged party sees this thread.

Here’s just a sample:

Backstory: OP is confused, can’t get the mare she purchased, GFF is switching vets and doing all sorts of strange things, it’s been four months. Other people saying it’s a scam. “Wyominggrandma” comes on and posts:

I no longer believe it a scam after talking to the Grayfox farms, and I just asked about the mares story . I have no interest either way, but as a business person, I hate to see someone’s reputation smashed unfairly.

Seems there is alot of communication breakdown going on with this story.

Jill was a very nice lady to email with. I am sorry, but I believe what she is saying. And it seems the OP has no replies to Jill’s account as to what Jill says is going on…
I don’t make it a habit to stick my nose into others business, but dealing with the buying public as I have and knowing how fast a person can hurt someones reputation if the story being said is not true, I was just curious as to what was actually going on. I told Jill where the postings were and she was going to come aboard and post herself, then she asked if I would post what she had written because she had a vet situation going on.
I would like to ask the OP if the reason she has not picked up her horse is because she had not paid the full price for her? Sounds to me like Grayfox farms would be more than happy to have the horse gone as soon as she pays and make shipping arrangements.Just curious

Sound familiar?

She finally did get the horse, I think – anyone know? Mare’s name was Sequel. Final resolution post from last year:

I really don’t want to start a war with this. And I was NEVER out to bash Jill or Gray Fox Farms. (And am still not) That was NEVER my intent. I only wanted to know what was going on. This lady is for some reason lying about this whole thing and I honestly have NO idea why. I have done EVERYTHING in my power to try to get ahold of her to get the horse. I honestly thought that I had been scammed, the owner had died, or something.

I even called a farm that is neighbors to hers and asked if they could see if there was a mare matching the description. They said they didn’t see one and that the whole place is a junky rundown place that no horse should be at and after looking at their website said it is a really deceiving, because it is nothing like that. That was over a month ago and when I REALLY started worrying.

Anyways…Phew…I am glad it ended up not being a scam because I wanted the horse  I will certainly post pics once I get her…and hopefully eventually…pics of her redwine foal

I posted this link to a sales ad on FB. She is selling her breeding to Redwine @ Gray Fox Farm owned by Jill Burnell because her mare did not take. She has decided to buy one already on the ground.

I just put “FYI… (link to thread)” in the comments
And if any one falls for it and thinks they will actually get a breeding I have some ocean front property in AZ for sale…

Just curious, where do her stallions live? Are they with a professional showing somewhere? I know John French no longer deals with her…I think.

I don’t have the financial means to buy or compete any of her stallions’ foals that she has for sale, but do people ever make an appointment to come see them in person and have them vetted immediately (by their vet) and then pay right then and there and trailer them same day? Not like I would ever want to purchase from her and fuel her deceitful behavior, but it seems like that would be an easier way to deal with her without getting burned.

As far as purchasing semen, NO WAY.

Follow up – I found a thread to show the mare Sequel was delivered to her new owner, and she had a nice foal this year. So I don’t know if she would want to complain. Unless of course the foal isn’t really by Redwine, but we won’t go there.

I do think adding Redwine’s name to the title would also bring this thread (if he gets mentioned regularly). After all, he is the most famous of her stallions and people may be googling him first.

That and Gray Fox Farm…

Do the Belgian registries require DNA testing?
Yes. I know for sure my mare had DNA taken when she was inspected for the stud book. I believe she also had it taken at her foal inspection/branding but I can’t be sure…

But if she is in fact registered with the BWP, a foal born last year’s name should start with an L, or if it’s the sBs, I think (not sure) that it would have to be a F. They name by the letter of the year, not the stallion. Who contacted the owner of the foal in question and said the foal was registered Belgian? Seems odd to go to an outside registry and pay the significant outside stallion fees if the mare was already approved with a registry that the stallion is also active in. You may just be waiting for papers to arrive from Belgium. It’s been known to take a long time…

It bears repeating Jill Burnell - Gray Fox Farm

I’m thinking Jill likes to deal with people cross-country who have money instead of dealing with those who might actually want to inspect foals on-site.

I had my 2 year old Aloha gelding shipped to me in January 2012… he lost some weight form being on the truck… later after I put him in training. We found out he had an infection in his throat, he wouldn’t eat all his food and cough all the time and had a runny nose, which was why he wasn’t gaining weight back like he should. Took us forever to find out what was wrong but he is doing better and finally gaining weight back. He had no worms at all… and I worm him every month like clockwork. Hopefully next year will be a better year and no vet bills! So we can show.

I am looking into how big of a pain in the butt it would be to get my filly DNA tested so we can put that question (that I do not share) to rest. So far the Jockey club says they will send the record of my mare’s DNA to the registry as soon as I sign the transfer of ownership form. They have not answered my repeated question as to why I would need to transfer her ownership to anyone since I am listed as her breeder and owner on her papers. So unless they figure that riddle out you guys are just going to have to be content with not knowing for sure because the mare is mine and has been since the day she was born and I am not changing that for anyone.

Laurierace, you seem to be confused as to how you get the DNA parental verification done.

You have the mare and the offspring. Just pull some mane hairs (with root bulbs attached), send them to UCDavis with a request that the offspring’s DNA be compared to the mare’s and the purported sire (Redwine) and give you a report as to whether or not the sire is Redwine.

Not difficult at all - nor expensive. $40 for the parental check. Maybe a tad more if they have to do the mare’s DNA to do the comparison.

Jockey Club need have nothing to do with it.

I am not confused. I already paid to have the mare done, why should I pay to have it done again? UC Davis says I have to get Redwine’s info from the registry or test him myself. Obviously that isn’t going to happen. The registry says they have his but needs the JC to release my mare’s information or test her again. So I can’t go through UC Davis at $40 without Redwine’s sample and if I go through the registry it is $60 for the mare and $60 for the foal unless the JC learns to read their own papers.

You only need to check your filly’s DNA against Redwine, since you know the dam for sure (unless she swapped out embryos with another mare on her own ). I’ve not done DNA on a WB, but I think you just pull hairs from your filly and send them someplace that has Redwine’s DNA on file (like UC Davis) and ask that it be checked against his.

ETA: saw your last response, and I have no idea. I don’t know why they would need to test the mare’s DNA.
