I have never had any dealings with Jill or thoughts one way or another, but really find it strange that many people I absolutely trust have befriended her, and many others that I also absolutely trust, are adamantly against her.

There isn’t a scrap of grass or shade anywhere, the babies and dams are confined to small dirt pens. How is this not overcrowding? How is having no shelter from the elements (not even a freaking run in shed) acceptable care?[/QUOTE]
The climate is what is allowing the lack of sheds. I just looked it up, and it is a high of barely low 80s for the worst of the summer. Dropping as a low to around 40 for the coldest nights. That is just an ideal climate. Does she have a barn and stalls for newborns? No horse is going to suffer at 80, or 40 degrees. It is delightful.
The horses appear to be in great shape from the photos, so unless others are hidden away, not sure that is abuse.
I have never been to CA, but it seems most horses out on the west coast are living with no grass, in pipe corrals? Not for me, but I am not sure I wouldn’t do that if that IS what choice I had.
As a stallion owner in a very limited home, I also set up my lab in the kitchen. Unfortunately for me, I did it almost daily, for many years. If I had a collection, I cleaned my kitchen, and brought in all of my breeding equipment that is stored in 3 rubber tubs in my barn, and set it all up.
As soon as the collection was packed up, everything went back in the tubs, and carried back to storage. Trust me, if anything had been left out, my family would have squealed. Especially my son who would walk much faster passing thru if he saw what I was doing.
I produced very good quality semen doing it this way - far better than 2 of our local Repro specialty places that had previously collected my stallion.
That said, if the SIL’s photos are correct, that is really sad.
This situation is very confusing when I look it who’s opinion I have confidence in.
