She’s pregnant.
I will go ahead and show her off a little. She’s only 2 in this photo.

I really like him.
I saw an article linked on FB earlier that he was approved Han, and only one of two given a premium title.

Huh ! I just looked at your website. Small world !
I have known Rolli Roger from foal on and gave him his name together with the wife of a friend of mine who raised him. (hehe and to make it a bit more funny - the wife of my friend, who name Rolli with me, is actually the breeder of Don Frederic…)
At some point I had Rolli Roger as a riding horse (when he was 4 I think). I did not buy him but we swopped horses for a time. Super easy, on the quiet side, and at that point he liked to jump even with me
He was a very very pretty and impressive foal. Groing up he changed a bit into heavier type and his head was not as pretty.
Dan - lovely mare and I think a great match for Don F. Congratulations and thanks for posting.
I saw Don F in his stall last week - very cuddly, sociable guy, and lovely colour (liver chestnut, I love). The staff said he was very good in his mind and easy to handle. I met two (well-respected) breeders while there who have booked to Don Frederic this year.

Sunnydays, thanks for the first hand report.
Dan
Congrats on your pregnancy Dan! Your mare is beautiful.
Kathleen, were you there on horsey business?
I just watched the 2012 Sch. stallion video and am again blown away by the movement on this stallion. Pretty close to perfection!
Congrats Dan… just heard the news. Should be a great foal!
Has anyone gotten any pregnancies with Don Frederic frozen semen?
Am interested in using this stallion too. Any reports on the quality of the frozen?
Also, is there a confo shot of him somewhere? I have 2 mares in mind - both very different types, so I need to see Fred’s shape.
Sunnydays - you saw him - what are his strong and weak points? What kind of mare would you NOT use to this stallion?
Yes, I saw him in his stall. He seemed calm and personable. I liked his colour and conformation. He was not overly bulky (as apposed to Foundation, whom I was considering, who is a massive tank), with medium frame, average leg length (ie, not a really leggy type).
So, I’m not particularly qualified to advise, but I would tend to use him on light to medium framed horses, and would not count on him to add legginess, in the way that Sir Donnerhall, Romanov and others do quite reliably.
He seemed like a “not-surprising” product of his breeding, though I think the damline appears more strongly in him, so that might predict more of what he would pass on.
I like him a lot, but don’t know that he is “perfect” for one of my own. Will probably try him …
If Paul Schockemohle is offering Don Frederic on the frozen semen roster, then the semen has gone through the testing and been deemed satisfactory for use as a frozen sire. PS does not sell junk! It impacts his business reputation too much, so they ensure the testing is done and an adequate number of straws are sent to ensure a goodly decent chance at pregnancy.
You could directly contact Christoph Hinkel - hinkel@schockemoehle.com ---- for direct answers as to semen quality, etc. This way, you’ll have a direct answer and get all the facts direct from the horse’s mouth, as it were. He has been exceptionally helpful to me with my queries in the past.
Actually, I need to edit myself: Don Frederic is only just turning 3 this year. He will probably undertake his 70-day stallion performance test this coming fall. He was champion of the LICENSING last year, when he was 2. As a result of his impressive presentation, he was licensed for a variety of registries including Hanover; however, this would probably be to a limited book of mares.
So, I would think there were some test breedings with fresh-chilled AI that are going on this spring, but I doubt he will be marketed on a grand scale until he completes his SPT. This is something I can get clarified from Christoph.
Also, this horse is still growing, so it will be very interesting to see how he looks when he is fully mature. Some W offspring develop good substance and bone as they mature. Donnerhall can also add substance. It’s interesting, because when I look at him I see Wolkentanz in his movement.
Thanks for the info.
Anyone have a confo photo of him?

Well, I just had to spit on my keyboard ! ROFL.
My guess and from listening here and there what people are breedng to: he is one of the most used stallions this year !
Yes he was very popular this year.
On Judy Yancey’s website she notes that she sold out of the batch of frozen that was imported and she ordered a second batch. I’m surprised someone hasn’t claimed a pregnancy yet with the frozen.
Dan
I hope someone has gotten a pregnancy from frozen. I bought some from Judy’s last batch that is coming soon. Should I use it this year or next?

I know he is being used, at least in Europe. I was just saying that I didn’t think he had finished his 70-day test yet and wasn’t marketed on a grand scale.
For what it’s worth Alexandra - I have Paul Schockemohle’s frozen roster that he sent me and Don Frederic is NOT on it. Therefore, he was NOT being offered to Canadians as of January/February/March/April. Maybe this changed as of May/June and for the rest of this season, but he most definitely WAS NOT on earlier rosters and that is what I was going by. So, no need to be rude and ridicule me.
He is not on PS’ website frozen list but he is on the list offered to us in New Zealand. I am sorely tempted…
In Germany the mare now needs to be shipped to the stallion station where Don Frederic stands. They are no longer doing shipped semen. Just heard.
Dan
I have to make a decision reasonably quickly as the semen order to PS’ needs to be in by July.
Failing seeing a confo shot of him, can someone tell me a bit about his shape? Length of back? Neck set? Is he flat in the croup or does he have a big apple bottom? What about markings - how long are those socks (the vids have him bandages)?
Thanks for any help here.
