Name three grooms who had lengthy careers in CA before moving east and continuing here. This is open-ended, as I am sure there are more than three, but these are pretty well known!

First woman to ride for the US was Majorie Haines Gill (Harry’s wife) in 1954.
Women were not allowed in SJ til 60 and Eventing in 64.
Who was the first woman to ride in Olympic SJ? And who was the first in Eventing?
(Hint - the first was not an American, the second was.)

Famous horse show managers?
Well, she certainly WAS breeding them. I lived across the street, and saw the pony foals each year. But I don’t remember any of them being particularly sucessful.
I know that, by the time Chantian died, she was standing a WelshxTB son of Chantain called (I think) Tom Thumb, but I don’t remember who he was out of.
By the early 70s she seemed to have switched her focus from ponies to Conformation Hunters (I think one was called Royal Secret).
Shortly after I moved down to Virginia (in 1979), Susanah Schroer was showing one of Mrs. Waller’s horses in the Junior Hunters at Upperville.
She is still alive and still has the horses, though I don’t know if she is actively berreding now.

Sooooooo, anyone of you remember said partee? Remember we are supposed to give answers when its not done in a resonable amount of time.
Kevin Bacon…When he got bored he’d take one of the young horses out, teach it to fetch his hat…
!!!I remember watching him teach a horse to lie down. I was a little kid and he and his mates were having a laugh about it. Took Kevin a short while until he had the horse calming lying on it’s side. An amazing feat!
And was the horse correct? Frances didn’t “own” many horses, B.J. being one she did. If not, more clues for the horse!

Prim 'n Proper was Deborah Bonwit Cahn’s pony, later owned by Franny Zinman. She was not a Highfields pony. (Nancy Baroody had Prim’s sister, Pride 'n Joy.)
