1. Ultra cute palamino with many wins in the '70’s in the a/o’s at the best A shows on the east coast, including Devon. Shown by a now R judge who still competes in the adults and a/o’s.

Who was Lemon Springs?

LOL, rexford! I loved the Burgess Meredith story.

We used to “wrap” our whips before we jumped. Take the thong (is that the right term?) and wrap it around and around the other piece (my brain is on total spaz about this ) kind of like a maypole, then knot the end.

Hey, we were on ponies, which meant we went so fast that we were only a blur anyway. (I swear my sister had the fastest round in the history of Upperville–the judge simply watched agog–after which our trainer said, “okay no more spurs for you even if it is appointments.”)

Anyway, then we’d uncoil the whip and carry it loose when we jogged back in.

Does she live in VA? I have never heard of her (granted, she was before my time)…this is a cool thread.

Not that any of you understood the joke

Speaking of Silk and Satin, do I remember an incident at Ox Ridge with a lunge line and that particular horse?

In the picture with the two children sitting on top of the horses… this might be way off, but some comment about a child’s parent being a muscisian… is one of those children Teddi Jo Mellencamp, or is it too early?

-Stacy

No, the child on the left is Joan Kramer’s son Alex. Joan was the new owner of Market Street. His dad had discovered KISS and produced their albums.

The child on the right is Christina Mutch and she is sitting on Devon (who, about one week later, would begin his east coast treck toward stardom with Lyda Beigel – he had come in from Washington about a month earlier and had been at Nimrod since then). This picture was taken when we first got down to FLa and were at the Fairgrounds.

The girl in the back right rode a wonderful ammie horse named Hoppergrass – anyone know her name now?

It once took us 30 hours in an ice storm to get from NYC to Camden, SC!
I was following the truck at 25 MPH on Rt. 95, and I thought he was going too fast for the road conditions.
Laid over in Camden for just 8 hours, then went the rest of the way so the truck driver’s schedule wouldn’t be messed up.
Someone who saw me get out of my car at WEF later told me I had looked like a deer in headlights- gee, thanks.

Emmett-
Didn’t Buddy ride Ike some towards the end of his career?

Go back a page or two and reread clue as to grey’s identity.

LP, I can see said mare (Bal)but can’t for the life of me remember who rode her. Clue? She was wearing the red, white and blue for a while, right?

Where’s the Golden Dawg this a.m.?

Nordic Venture a/k/a No-dic?

quote:
Originally posted by MHM: So far, you have the right era and zone of origin… so don’t make yourself CRAZY!

Side Bet was a Hulick horse of that era but, Abby, I believe you have me stumped. Also stumped by Bumpkins ? about Sundancer’s alias.

Wasn’t Happy Landing the brown, cute moving hunter?

LaurieP - Did you KNOW that or did you call Conrad directly for the answer???

Emmett, are you answering a question or asking one?

This all is getting hard to follow, but way too much fun!

Let’s add Allegro to the list too!!!

If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…

Dangerfield, of course! Silly Emmet!

I just sat at my desk going “V - V- V.” I knew it started with V. Then, in the middle of watching “Friends” last night, it just came to me!

New question:
Name the three main riders of Semi-Pro, in order from earliest to latest. And what BIG class did he win with what rider?

Laurie

Mark Leone, horse is either Rain Forest or Bridegroom (both were brown, but RF had a unique white mark on his forehead that I can’t see) and Harrisburg (I think)! Rf was a small, and Bridegroom was a large junior hunter, and he showed them at the same time.
