I am so bad at trivia, but this is a great thread. Hey , does anyone remember a granprix rider, older male, from I’d say in the late 70’s early 80’s , who over top of all the jumps was COMPLETELY unattached to the horse except for holding the reins?? I saw him at Ox Ridge and to this day have no idea how he did it. maybe British?? He was a great crowd pleaser!!Did well too as I remember ( and that seems to be all I remember)
PS How does one get those little gremlins in your message???Thanks

was that North Shore Equestrian Center(formally known as Old Mill Farm)?

Old Mill Farm still exists in it’s original location. North Shore Equestrian center is a whole different thing at a different location.
was named in reference to I.C. Blue Shadow. Both ponies were started at Road’s End in the later 80’s. Can’t recall who rode I.C. first, before she went to Alison, but Kim Vernell rode Better Than Blue first and then he went to Goodmans and I am not sure at what point he “became” a medium.

Hmmm… in 1994, she was second in the uset on Bob… in 1995, she won the AHSA on Keratin, and was second in the Maclay on Four Wins, and she was also second in the WIHS on Grand Finale.
She’s awesome… that rider is what equitation is all about.

I’ll follow my own “suggested” rule lauriep: answer to mine (above):
Downing Street, Ann Watson
No clue to yours though: Balalaika?
Josh Bougher Sp?,but the NICEST man you ever met-and was a great friend to all and a real gentleman
What rider has been champion the most times at the National Horse Show (Garden/Meadowlands) in the junior hunter divisions?
P.S. I have the story of the world’s funniest barn call if anyone wants to hear it.

Uh, checking the results online is NOT FAIR, MAD! But yes, you are right.

Just using the tools of the wonderful Internet, Alex. In fact, isn’t that how I found YOU?
YEA, NUTMETG!!! It was Frank - with an incredible record of 46 WINS in 85 starts!
Piero d’Inzeo (ITA) (1947-1979 OMG ) is second with 42 wins in 107 starts (not as good a batting average!!!)
BILL STEINKRAUS is third with 38 wins in 87 starts.
The British Team from 1979-1993 must have been John Whitaker, David Broome, & Nick Skelton, as they are all tied at 37 wins. As has Hans Gunther Winkler.
Michael Matz has a great record of 23 wins (42), while Kathy Kusner & Mary Chapot are also tied at 22 wins. Leslie has 19 wins, Joe F has 17, and Margie & Norman each have 16 wins.
This is all from the SHOW JUMPING MEDIA GUIDE 200/2001 that Samsung released - great statistics on both NC and World Cup classes! Very much fun!
It actually list all the riders ever in NC classes, so if there is anything anyone wants to know, just write! LOL
I heard one of our current hunter trainers was a Rhodes Scholar.
Any truth to this rumor??
- Maggie Moss Flynn, formerly married to Brian Flynn, with Maid of India. A little trivia on that horse: small brown mare bought at a sheriff’s auction at Hans Senn’s Helvetia Stables in MN. Formerly owned by Marge LeRoy, shown by her daughter Suzie as “Dominique” and sold with all of Marge’s horses for back board!
