Ok it was Salem and Carol Hofmann

I always thought her name was spelled Hoffman!!

Ruxton:

first Trainer: Jack Stedding
first rider: bobbie (stedding) gibbons
retired: Ellen Van dyke??? I think she was the last to have him, but not 10% on that one.

When I worked for Patty, Mr. B had Sly Step and Same Game in the Greens. Both did well but were never the “big” winners like the previous ones. I will say though that Sly was quite a handful and it was always a delight to watch he and Patty play mind games with each other. Luckily for us, Patty won 98% of the time. He was a very devious wicked animal at times!!

Where is she?

Kennett and Alex! You need arbitration! Following on the heels of USET, USAE…)

Didn’t they switch while hacking, just for kicks? Someone else was in it also. Possibly Norman? Leslie is on Jet, I think Corsair is in the picture as well…

Michael Matz is on Corsair, Leslie is on J.R.
Each rider has a Heineken in their hand.
It was a casual hack.

A dirty dog is a happy dog.

I think this one is tough – the name of the child who originally owned the pony “Even Gamble.”

Hint: she was from Maryland.

Double points – what was the name of the girl’s other pony?

Hint: it was a large.

Wennol Becon, or however you spell it!

I dont’think I saw the other Baskowitz sister answer: “Curtiss”…anybody know her whereabouts these days?

Glandor Akai! I remember when Barney brought him over from Europe. He won the GrandPrix at New York one year when I had to take care of him at the last minute (1982?) - and Alexa did buy him after that.

Anyone know what happpened to her?

What is on the head of the child on the left?
I LOVE this thread

You are WAY too YOUNG for this crowd!!

Not Pancho.
Good guess.

Well the trainer was Joey Darby and I can see the mare in my mind. But the way I see her is misbehaving and Joey then showing us all how to do his patented “Joey Darby Spin” to make her see the error of her ways…I do remember it was sold up North later that year.

I remember the name. That is all. Maybe that’s a bad sign!
I remember the going to church fiasco! How sad.
I once sent a horse “back to the truck” (parked at the bottom of “the ramp”). It got unbraided, cleaned up and was ready to ship back to CT. The kid had a great trip. We figured the judges missed him. Then Victor (himself!) announced the stand-by list was wrong! Fasted rebraid job I have ever seen!
Guess the kid !!!
(MAD, we are not from the same era. I am prehistoric ).

Resources? I have none. I do not have one old chronicle, one prize list, catalogue or horse magazine of any kind in my home. I have some old pictures in a box somewhere and my leather shanks and a few halters. Somewhere in another box I have the shoes we pulled off French Leave just before we put him down… That was it for me, the last thing I ever saved. The only resource I have is my foggy memory.

LOL Yellerdawg!

No, it was not a deLeyer.

Leslie’s mother was Billie Burr - a fine Broadway actress. I am not sure if and how much screen/Hollywood she worked, but I do know she was well respected on stage.

In 2001, a Billie Burr of West Palm Beach, Florida was in the top five seed of the 85 yr old US tennis league. Is that her? Sounds right.
