"DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" - Old Horse Show Trivia

The chestnut horse with the nasty ankle is Count Tuscan ridden by Ashley Lickle.

LH3 – Spindletop Showdown… It was Spindletop Farm. Can’t think of names of other horses although I know they are in my memory bank somewhere right next to the information about what business he was in…

I rode a jumper out on Long Island a few times in the mid-70s who was called Klondike Kat that I was told Marvin Rappaport had owned, but I never did trust the person who told me that. He was a big chestnut, TB I assume, and I jumped my only 4’ course on him.

OK. The answer to LP’s ? must be Syd. I’m stumped on the Windrush ones.

To Pahrslvr…Ruxton, by Abundance eventually became a winning working hunter ridden in that divison by Charlie Weaver. EB may have, at one time owned Ruxton. EB en famile had something to do with bottling beer, I think.

Lemon Springs was a palomino hunter who Sandra showed in the A/O’s in her single days.

Hunter was Bootlegger.

Albany?

LP is the Victor re: Atlantic City. And yes, that was a famous snow storm. I never thought we’d get home!

Juan Rickerhoff’s (sp?) chestnut horse was?

For a extra day on the cruise, who trained him?

Since Shorty brought it up, name three riders who rode for Frances Rowe.

Stab - Stab - Stab in the dark…
How about Marion Stokes (?) and Stroller
Went clean.
Was that the 60’s? Geez I can’t remember. My brain hurts now.

Went back and looked at this whole thread- so many great stories!

Hats off to Alex Trebek for the idea.

Hey YD- Did you ever get an answer about which AHSA judge was licensed in every division across the board (around page 9)?

I know of one, but I bet it’s not the same one you’re thinking of!

Katie rode two liver chestnut jumpers to great success; although similar in color, they had VERY different names. Who were they?

Laurie

Is that the same Watership Down Megan Johnstone (now Lamaze) showed in the Juniors when she first started doing the 3’6"?

Doens’t or Didn’t Lisa Burke Horkon ride an offspring of this mare in the AO or adult hunter/ jumper divisions. If memory serves me right, she showed Spiffy for awhile too?? Not too sure.

You are the master says wty, bowing succintly to Shorty…

Terry Rudd’s own trademark…
Clue - It disapeared about the time she stopped riding ponies.

Flying Colors - Mrs. Clarence Nagro

OK,

Part (A) What was Mrs Clarence Nagro’s name before she married Clarence and

Part (B) What is the name of his daugher (extra credit given if you can name her very fancy pony of the early 1960’s)

quote:
Who rode Mr Bar Doo Too? (open speed)
Who trained him?
I would ask who owned him, but I forgot

Jimmy Kingery! Jimmy, Alice and Hans used to go at it in the Junior Jumpers. Judy Richter and Ellen R. Lordi trained him, I think. His parents (they owned Rye Ford) owned him.

Two horses successfully shown by male a/o rider in the mid '70’s, both with good ribbons Indoors. Name horses and rider; clue: rider currently showing in the “elder” a/a division at WEF.

I will guess that this is the person, but I can’t even begin to name a horse, though.

R. BRUCE DUCHOSSIS

was Kevin Bacon’s horse.

Tommy Serio riding Cavalier Bid 1988/89

How old - one would ask. Well, I remember when Piping Rock was held at Piping Rock!

LH2. Midget and Nancy Broody. Do I get extra points for knowing her brothers name was David?
Smokey Joe and any or all of the Boyces.
Serendipity and Margaret Houseman
Penny Loeb and all of her ponies

LH3 Spindletop Showdown and Spindletop Count Fleet, later bought by Nancy Candib. (Pretty Smart, huh?) And his dining establishment was the Spindletop. Did ja know that his name wasnt van Rapport, but Marvin Rapport and van was his middle name?
