You’re right Shorty, it is Junie.
And the show in the next picture is, as Rexford guessed, North Shore.

Trader’s Point Hunt Charity Horse Show!
There’s plenty of “bumping” around the shows already. Oh, I guess that’s a different kind…
Can’t begin to answer those jumper questions (!), but here’s a related one to Emmet’s: who was the winner (rider) of what was, I believe, the first hunter classic of the “original” Florida circuit?
HAHA wow some one actually read my quotes!!! LOL

Bounce once if you believe in diagonals!
Calligula, a smart man! Appointed his horse as consul!
Look mommy!! He’s wearing bellbottoms!!(in reference to a clydesdale)
“…the first pony in line was a purebred Connemara,…was based at Fairfield…”
darn. I was gonna say Dresden.
I very rarely saw the pony ring, so that’s another stab in the dark.

You want another “Florida” memory? (from back when Wellington wasn’t even a dream) …
“M” horse trucking company sends a truck to “Darien” for annual trip to Florida. Drivers arrive to find GIANT pile of bagged shavings (major grumbling!!), trunks, etc. (and horses). Drivers load trunks, etc. and then shavings. Trainer “C” watches out office window to make sure giant pile of controversial shavings get loaded.
Drivers slam door to “the peak” (appears filled with shavings), horses get loaded, truck leaves quickly! “C” waves goodbye, and from her vantage point cannot see giant pile of shavings in the driveway. Drivers had tossed them out of the other side of “the peak!” I recall the “pile” in the door of the peak was about 12 (of 100).
“C” calls owner of “M” trucking company in anger! Drivers long gone on their way to Palm Beach
Drivers became folk heroes
Who can name the trucking company? The drivers? The location of the crime?

you may have been thinking of Tommy Veile, who worked for eons for the Team, but went to Hunterdon after leaving Gladstone, and had the care of Jonesie in Sweden and when he got sick. But Pancho saw him through the illness and recovery, using placentas (I want to say lamb)to poultice his hind legs in from ankle to stifle, more than once a day to start. It was quite a radical treatment, but Danny can take full credit that the horse lived, much less performed again!
I had the answer for Ruxton, one of the few hunter questions I’ll be able to answer, but schmoe beat me to it!

Still wondering about Marlene Sinclair. Anyone know where she is?
No she only gave me one. I remembered Spiff n Polish (Lynnie) and Silk n Satin (Trisha) and I remember when Timmy Foster was lounging her at Ox Ridge and she got loose and cut her leg.
But my source said that your clue that the horse and owner/rider had a long career might have to be disputed because Jane never showed Nashville Brass or Roman Lyre. It was a bit confusing I guess you were referring to Owner (Jane) and Rider (Leslie) We thought you meant that the Owner/Rider (being the same) meant a horse that Jane showed.
I told her to register to this board and add her own 2 cents. I told her to register under the name Zinger.
Gem Twist’s groom- Jen Alfano
Northern Magic- I know this one, but can’t think of her name!! (I hate it when that happens!)
OK- Maclay winner: Peter Wylde, Native Surf, Fran & Joe Dotoli, 1982.
Wylde/CRAZY, HELMETS/Joe Dotoli, who was also the topic of a thread for an award he just won. Native Surf was mentioned on the Christina thread, and there was a big two-part feature in PH, which I almost knew word for word at one time.
And this was a flat-out accident:
Shorty- Touch of Class (wild guess)
Sorry I thought you were asking about a hunter!! haha
Melanie, Calypso, 1981? Not sure of the year, but I think it was the year after she was second to us. Maybe 1982…
