"DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" - Old Horse Show Trivia

I had defer to my fox hunting (sometimes) spouse for the answers to several of these ?'s.

Gentlemen members of the hunt wear top hats.

Ladies wear derbies.

Professionals wear hard hats with the ribbon down. Juniors, ribbon up. (?)

In the pocket of a pink coat? Nowadays, you must carry your hunting liscense. I’m curious to know what was carried yesteryear.

Not sure about the diff between Appointments and Corinthian but I think it had something to do with hunt club membership or actually having fox hunted.

But…the truth is out there.

Sorry - away from the computer temporarily:

  1. yes, Lemon Springs, one of my favorites, with Sandra Caldwell (Brown)

  2. Sir Lancelot, with Scott Keller

  3. yes, Liseter Gold Coin and Goldilocks w/Maryann Steiert

LH1 - not sure who, but NOT Mrs. Johnson - didn’t have the a/a’s in those days, unless you really meant the a/o’s?! LOL

(Pancho must be in the schooling area)

Let’s get back to Trivia…

Can anybody name ONE of the horses on the first circuit tour for Windrush Farm and who were the riders???

Here’s one:

In the late 80’s, what international-class jumper was the tallest horse with the shortest groom?

(This thread was too long for me to look and see if anyone else already asked something similar…sorry!)

WC yellowdog… you’re smart

Calligula, a smart man! Appointed his horse as consul!
Look mommy!! He’s wearing bellbottoms!!(in reference to a clydesdale)

“… Flying John was a fat bay one, right? Do I remember Robert riding him? …”

I remember Ellie riding him and EVERYBODY ELSE! I think he was “shapely.”

I remember this classic story. It could only be Frankie and Allen from Nyconn. Did this happen at Coker? I remember hearing about this so many times, but the details allude my memory.

I finally have I one, at least I think my memory is working correctly.

Who rode Ruxton prior to the Wheelers?

I may not always win, but I will always try to win.

Name the rider(s) from the “other ring”:

Goodnight Moon
Outlook
Play The Music
Hard To Be Humble
Watership Down
Romparound
Gala Performance
Bugsy Malone
Shakespeare

LOL. And here is one fer ya.

What was the name of the farm Barney rode for in NJ. After you do that, name the grey open jumper, who was formerly a conformation hunter, Barney showed for them and the brown jumper.

Still thinking, Alex. You know these things take time for recepients of AARP mailings. LOL.

Gem-Jen A., I believe…

S.

(Edit: Wah! DENIED! MHM buzzes in 4 mins before me!-story of my life, oh well.)

Darnit all Alex… you have me going through all my old Chronicles from the late 70’s… and I had other things I was supposed to do today!!!1

Damn lauriep, I knew that one one of the few…

Hey - Does anyone know what year Neil Shapiro won the Medal class at MSG? I think it was the early sixties - I think he rode Cameo in that class but having a brain cramp right now…

I am 100% sure on Buddy Brown and I think Terry Rudd was another one of Prime Time’s riders but I cannot remember the rest.

Does this buy me 2/5 of a seat on the cruise ship if 2 out 5 answers are correct?

Nina

Why Lord Sutler of course.

RJ, Gold Cup = Semi-Pro?

Just wanted to add, it’s becoming increasingly hard to get to this thread. Don’t think ole Info Pop was quite ready for us

Mr Muskie was owned by Doc Severinson - he was a registered Quarter Horse, and ridden by Alan in the Jr Jumpers. Alan also won the first AQHA Congress $10,000 added Jumper Sweepstakes (1973) - (It was a round and two jump off course, second jumpoff against the clock - they put the jumps up TWO holes for each round and it started at 4’!!) (I stood behind him in that class - only 4 of us made it to the final jumpoff of 40 or more starters! )

Mr. Muskie was also shown by Michelle McEvoy - who won the silver medal at the Women’w World Championships in La Baule, France in 1974. Unfortunately, he died on the way home.

He was originally bought as a yearling at auction by (forgot their name) in the Mid West somewhere - because he was “so ugly, we felt sorry for him”!!

Neat horse! Super jumper - made the big jumps look small!

Sorry, Jody - wrong on both counts!

I think John Whitaker MAY have RIDDEN in the most Nations CUp classes, but not on the most winning teams.
