Per an email today, Dover is no longer going to calculate shipping by total purchase price. They have been making BIG changes lately but this is the biggest I’ve seen!!!
Also, in acknowledgment of social media griping over existing goofy ship pricing, free standard shipping through the holiday season (if I read that email correctly).
Omg I hate the iPhone. Dover!
Dover. Hadn’t given them any business in years. My dressage boots were on closeout. After verifying with Dressage Extensions (owned by Dover) that the offer was legit, I went online to see if by chance they had my size. They did.
Called them via phone to verify and placed my order. Boots arrived surprisingly in only a few days. Two and a half foot sizes smaller and 3 centimeters narrower than what I ordered. More phone calls. A return shipping label. And back to the post office the next day. Hope they refund my original shipping costs or they’ll be a few more comments on social media regarding not only their shipping policies!
Remind me why I stopped shopping with Dover to begin with!
And now I’m getting several emails a day from them again.

In this other thread it came out that the free shipping requires a $150 order.
“Premier” products are excluded, as well.
Yeah it’s still a scam. The dumb letter didn’t include that it’s still only applicable on orders over $150. They lost my business years ago to Smartpak’s free shipping and free return shipping on sized items.
I was charged $13 to ship 2 pairs of gloves on Wednesday. $13 for standard, snail-mail shipping, on an order that is less than 1 pound! That’s half the price of one pair of the gloves I bought!!!
I looked at Smartpak but they didn’t have the exact style I needed. It might’ve been cheaper to hook up my adult horse to a sleigh and go get them from Dover’s warehouse myself. Hopefully they get their shipping streamlined like they did their website and catalog :sigh:
Did they update the website so that when you search for an item you get the sale price?

The email doesn’t mention any minimum purchase. Has someone confirmed that there is nonetheless a minimum? Not for the $25 off but for the free shipping through the end of the holidays?
V-they also didn’t mention not having an minimum purchase In Dover’s mind, they are offering free shipping, it just comes with a clause.
So annoying but I knew there was a catch the second I got the email.
I know, has anyone actually tried this/checked? I suppose I could call…
Several people on the other thread called and confirmed there is a $150 minimum for free shipping.
Yes many people on their facebook have commented that they’ve called/chatted and confirmed the free shipping is only good on purchases over $150. The letter was essentially garbage IMO.
Just tried to call and was on hold forever and gave up
Not garbage, just not fully accurate.
They charged shipping on orders over $150 before so now you can order a lot of stuff (except certain things) and get free shipping.
$50 worth of merchandise (gloves and tail cord) in my cart - says $12.95 for S&H. SMH.
I heard this Christmas/holiday is by far the busiest year they’ve ever had in the warehouse - this is coming from a family member of mine that has worked there for over 10 years. It must have to do with them finally getting with the free-shipping program.
I was late to the party but sat down last week and seriously poured over their new catalog (the holiday one). It looks incredible! It’s awesome the new management is turning things around. I really hope they continue to make progress, I liked how the catalog was styled… I mean, it could only have been prettier to me if they used a bay instead of a grey
It would be really nice if they were competitive with shipping and did what SP and RW do. I’m going to the Plaistow store this Sunday (driving the hour+ is still cheaper than their shipping!) to get my sister’s pony a medium weight for Christmas – who doesn’t look forward to going to a tack store?
Be sure you have looked thru every catalog so you know you are getting the code for the lowest price, before you go to the store.
It’s frustrating because I do wish I could get some of the stuff Dover offers that other companies don’t. The closest store is too far away from where I live, and thankfully Smartpak has mostly everything I could need, albeit maybe a smaller selection. Still worth it for free shipping. And I’m not even opposed to paying for shipping on smaller orders, but it shouldn’t cost as much as the item does to ship it, especially when it doesn’t even weigh a pound.
