Does anyone have any experience with these products? Have a friend whos vet is having her use two of their products to work on lameness issues for a tendon in one horse and ringbone in another horse.
Have had quite a few horses both mine and client’s, through the years turn to these when Western medicine treatments failed… Some formulas seem miraculous while others ??? The digestion related ones have been the most impressive by far, for horses who had had reoccurring colics, like multiple times per week, and chronic diarrhea that failed to respond to traditional treatment methods. I’m on the fence with Tendon Ligament and Dok’s Formula. Not sure which formula would be used for ringbone… For that I have had awesome results with Shockwave coinciding with a Pentosan loading dose plus Cosequin ASU. The herbs are expensive, so I like to see obvious improvement over traditional courses of treatment. Hope that helps!
The vet that does my dog’s acupunture uses them in conjuction with the acupunture. I have used the Shen Calmer on my dog and it did fine and she gave me a salve that I used on one horse with some benign swelling and it worked.
I have used these products for at least 7 years now. Shen Calmer is incredible for the edgy/anxious type. I also swear by Stomach Happy for ulcery/colicky types. And I used Body Sore on a horse that came off the track incredibly well, body sore.
I find the big challenge can be getting them to eat it as they smell terrible (herby). Shen Calmer has also been great for my very fearful reactive dog.
Where can it be purchased?
Years ago, I used one of these products on my non-sweater, when other suggestions and the usual One A/C didn’t work. The product worked great, and was the only thing that did work.
As far as I know the products she is using can only be purchased through a vet.
ditto - can only be ordered thru your vet. i use one for uveitis. i’m not sure if it works or not as i am scared to take horse off it. he came with the powder and i was instructed to not take him off. it’s all expensive.
big fan of tendon ligament health supplement.
my mare has had serious bilateral suspensory injuries only a year apart and this supplement increases her comfort level dramatically. the first time we tried it only for 30 days (i think that’s how they recommend it). after seeing how much more comfortable my mare was, the vet said, put her on it and leave her on it.
I used Liver Happy and it was la bomba!!!

Marta and I use the same vet that highly recommends the tendon herbs.
My horse has been on it for over 3 months now (maybe more, as I’ve lost track of time).
Like one of the other posters said, it’s hard to tell if it works or not if we are afraid to take our horses off it for fear of the problem reoccurring.
I am amazed that my horse eats this stuff. I feed a hefty scoop twice a day in a very small amount of feed. I feed Senior, so I add water to mix it in. He seems to actually like the taste.
It’s expensive to use as a life long product.
I have used Hot Hoof I and II, Body Sore, Heat Stopping (absolutely miraculous!), and Happy Earth. Happy Earth was the only one I did not see results but it was later found the pony had right dorsal colitis (hind gut ulcers)
Both the Hot Hoof I and II were wonderful when my mini foundered. The Body Sore helped her through the uncomfortable stage.
The Heat Stopping…well it brought my mare out of 28 days of standing heat in less than 36 hours. My vet uses this instead of Regumate.

Hi Martha, is it specifically the Tendon Ligament Health formula that you use? I think there’s another one too Liver Tendon formula as well. I was going to ask my vet about seeing if she’d order this for me…but I don’t think she’s into TCM.
How much for the supplements?
Ok, gonna give it a try. My very nervous gelding was seen by a veterinary chiro and she suggested Shen Calmer. She ordered me a container at her price to see what I thought. Just ordered so I’ll let you know.
What are the prices like?
They are not cheap- for the one for anhidrosis, which I have used, it was ~$110 for about a month. Worked great though!

My cost with shipping was about $75 but that was at wholesale because my vet want to me to try it. But it’s also at least a 60 to 90 day supply.
I’m a huge fan and have seen big differences with Hot Hoof (I and II), Stomach Happy, Body Sore, and Cervical Formula. I’m sure I’ve tried a couple of others, but I can’t recall off hand what they were. If you have a good vet who understands these products and makes appropriate suggestions on what to order I think they’re really good products.

I still call it her voodoo herbs, but I’ll be danged if she went from completely anhidrotic (literally no sweat, veins sticking out, blowing for 20 minutes) to sweating normally in the summer and now only under the tack since we’ve stopped using it. I don’t know what kind of magickal stuff is in there, but I’m relatively certain I can’t placebo effect my horse into sweating!
I’ve tried the Body Sore too, but I’m not sure it’s helped much. I only tried that because of the great results with the anhidrosis one.
