Dressage attire guidelines

I know this isn’t Wonder Womany, but would this be too much when combined with a tiara? It seems like the color wouldn’t be a problem.

I sure hope someone knows one or more of the authors of the attire rules so that they can send them this thread. and yes, if I get the Wonder Woman boots, you can bet I’ll need the rest of the outfit. Perhaps the cape could be fashioned into a shadbelly?

Ok. First of all I legit need that.

Second of all yes that’s exactly the right piece to match the crown pending updated colors.

I found it on etsy!

What gets me are the dangling crystals. I can think of one particular mare I ride that would either be mesmerized or driven positively insane by those doo-dads ever-so-slightly bobbing against her forehead.

Or… Maybe when the sunlight glints upon the teardrop crystals it could hypnotize the judge!

I think I can convince my horse to accept the dangling crystals. Maybe.

I think for Wonder Woman they should be “Crystals of Power”

I always aim for maximum bling. I figure if I can blind the judge, they might not be able to score the movement and will err on the side of compassion, giving me a higher score. :joy:

But you can’t have a sparkly saddlepad lest you distract the judge (so I guess distracting bad, blinding good?)

My no-bling, non-colour coordinated hat is off to all of you. These new rules seem really hard to interpret and open to a lot of confusion. I salute you all who can sort this out and style it down the centre line! They lost me entirely at the subtle patterns v. non-subtle patterns. I can say with confidence if they were flash cards I had to categorise, I’d have had at least three in the wrong pile.

The problem is they cannot show every possible coat and tell us whether it’s allowed. We have to rely our own judgement.

Bottom line is if you think it might not be allowed, don’t take the risk. Or, take an extra coat that you’re sure is ok and let the TD decide about the one you’re not sure about.

Before anyone says, “But not everyone can afford two coats,” I would say don’t buy one you have doubts about.

I am not going to say that not everyone can afford two coats, I am going to say that their rules are so unclear that they make it impossible for people to know. They say that one is fine and another that looks almost identical is not fine but no real explanation of why one is fine and one is not.

Unless you are showing for the first time and buying your very first coat, you already have a coat that is allowed. If you want to wear a more colorful coat (and I am all for it) but are unsure about it, take a photo and send it to USEF. They will tell you whether it’s allowed.

No one has to risk being eliminated by their coat not being allowed.

I don’t really think the rules are all that hard to interpret for anyone wanting to wear a single-color coat. All of these questions are (what about this thing that is right on the edge by the letter of the rules?) type questions.

If your coat only has one color on it, or a color and a collar, what are you wound around the axle about?

It’s significantly more leeway than we had before but you can always buy what was available before and be fine. I don’t get the stressing that’s going on.

Exactly.

I do believe what people are “wound around the axle about” is not so much their ability to wear or not wear a certain coat but that once again rules are written in a way that is not clear to the average person.

That’s Captain Marvel, which is Marvel, and Wonder Woman is DC.

Ok, nerd out.

And? I don’t understand the need to make a comic book “correction” here.

because accuracy is important in all facets. Don’t see why this simple “fact check” has you wound up. Say “Thank you, I didn’t know, now I do” even if you do not give a flying F.

Well, let’s be accurate, then. I didn’t say the jacket was Wonder Woman’s. I said “Here’s the jacket to coordinate with the Wonder Woman boots.” What “fact” did I get wrong? What exactly is it I didn’t know?

Frankly, I think it’s pretty sad that anyone would get their nose out of joint over a joke, even if I had said it was Wonder Woman.
