Dressage attire guidelines

Well, you were saying you cannot wear them anymore, which obviously isn’t true, since they’re legal under a coat. That’s what people were responding to, because our crystal balls are broken and we don’t know that you live in Florida and coats are always waived. A lack of context in your comment means people respond to it at face value.

No idea why you’re so perturbed by this.

:joy:

If anyone’s looking for something truly out of the box:

I saw in one of my horse FB groups that a lady wore it to competitions, so I assume it’s legal?

Don’t think it would go with my dusty bay, but I do kinda like it.

I have the Horseware as a backup coat, the color is dark but the fabric isn’t great. I liked the SmartPak but at the time it was too bright. I have the Pikeur Isalie in green and it’s VERY dark, you need to know it’s green to tell.

I’d wear that in two seconds, but I’m full up on coats and the current front runner is a deep purple/burgundy with rose gold crystals.

If I had a gray or a dark horse, I’d be all over a light pink coat.

I like it, too. I think it looks lovely. My only wish is that the under collar had a more interesting fabric rather than the logo fabric.

Longer coats are out of style and have been for a good decade or more.

Yes, it’s sad for those of us who still have perfectly functional coats that go down past our bums but, on the other hand, I never have to worry about landing on my coat while posting, which I did ALL THE TIME with my Ovation from the early 00’s.

I don’t think it’s a real big deal to have a coat shortened. It should certainly be less than buying a new one of any quality.

Sorry, I was responding to Spudsmyguy’s comment about my new maroon coat basically being a borelo way back on Feb 22nd. I’m slow keeping track of comments this … month? Year?

While sitting here, I figured I’d draw a mock-up for an outfit that might work. Thoughts? Of course, the helmet is ASTM.

Besides making me laugh hysterically (my dog is staring at me), your rendition of the Wonder Woman/Lady Captain Marvel Super Speshul Dressage Heroine Outfit is commendable. A tip of my tiara to your creativity!

I don’t want that cape flapping around in the warm up!

You’re welcome.

I think gloves are supposed to be black or white. I don’t think red gloves are allowed

Other colors are allowed. I wear brown gloves sometimes, or navy. I agree that bright color would be considered bold but it’s not only black or white.

I stand corrected

Maybe it could be designed so the cape is kept under wraps until there’s some sort of reveal, ala Michael Kors. Like when you finish at X and go to salute the judge, you could deftly also unfurl the splendor of your cape in a dramatic flourish! :tada:

The coat that the rider on the COTH homepage is wearing looks nice.
