This ^ ^ ^ would be within the rules for attire at fourth level and below. I like the way it looks.
Thatās not dressage, thatās showing (which in Australia and several other countries, is the name of a specific discipline, not a generic term for competing on a horse).
I know. I was (somewhat jokingly) suggesting it for dressage because scribes and judges were saying they couldnāt read bridle numbers.
Except that neck straps are apparently absolutely prohibited.
ETA: at least in the US. Thanks, Xanthoria for that reminder.
Only in the US!
It would be handy if you are just grazing on the grounds, untacked.
Iām showing in a lavender jacket with black shirt & breeches and a purple saddle pad. I get lots of compliments from competitors and officials and I feel so much more confident riding in non-white breeches!! As an aside, I donāt like the white half pad, but couldnāt find my black one, so had to live with white.
Where did you get your jacket?
I got it from a seller (www.Neighborlytack.com) in the Show Jacket Addiction Group on Facebook. Itās by Kerrits, but I believe the color has been discontinued, so it is difficult to find.
Canada too
Another show last weekend. I officially do not like the dark breeches look, especially with a black or dark coat. I did see some lovely lavender breeches with a purple coat and a dove grey with blue coat. I think for the time being Iāll stick with my whites.
Not a fan, either. It has a distinct Saddle Seat look. But, Iām very glad we have the option and that people are taking advantage of it.
Neighbourly Tack is awesome. Great service and a big selection of Kerrits and Romfh plus sizes, which I really appreciate
I scribed the last two weekend in a row and, though I didnāt see too many of them, thought black breeches and black jacket looked really nice. Clean, professional, not distracting. I also saw dark grey breeches with a black coat which looked sharp.
The vast majority still wore dark coats with white breeches, but I did see a very pretty teal short jacket, and a stunning deep red (almost burgundy but not quite) tailcoat. Looked fabulous on a dark bay horse.
I have the same lavender jacket, also purchased from Neighborly Tack. Iāve been seeing more fun colored jackets with white breeches, and a few black jacket with colored breeches in my area. Iām struggling with putting outfits together so Iāve been sticking to white breeches, but may do light gray breeches this weekend, thatās as creative as I get.
OMG, I am so jealous of the lavender jackets!
Wow I LOVE those lavender jackets! Donāt think theyād look quite right on my chestnut, but so pretty!
Iām debating what to do for showing this weekendāitās supposed to be 90 and coats are waived. I actually think the whole contrast colors and no prints things eliminates a lot of sunshirt choices when coats are waivedāthe green sunshirt I have, has black mesh and subtly printed trim at the wrists, so itās out. I might end up doing grey breeches and white shirt, which seems to boring with all the fun choices out there now!
The USEF/USDF put out a new ruling about the mesh panels on sun shirts, so Iād take the green shirt and ask the TD about its legality and have a āboringā one with you as back up!
I wish Iād known that before last weekend! I actually ended up showing in a (bright!) pink polo with my grey breeches. Not a word from anyone on the legality of it.
Still mostly a LOT of plain black & white on the showgrounds, which surprised me, given that the show is a breast cancer benefit. Youād think folks would take the opportunity to add some themed color! I also wish that when coats were waived, more people went along with itāthere is no reason to suffer through 90 degree/75% humidity weather with a coat when they were waived four days earlier.
