Here’s a question for you D cup and beyond ladies out there: What kind of sports bra works the best for dressage?
Seriously… what works the best?

Well, for jumping I used to use 2 or 3 bras. Sigh. Believe it or not, a sports bra, then duct tape and then a normal support bra over that for “shape” does really well.
Maybe there is a new fix-all bra that has come out in the past few years that I don’t know about. That would be great.
Sadly, I must concur with twotrudoc… I wear a normal bra with a snug sports bra. I know I have the dreaded “uniboob” but as long as I am not knocking myself in the chin during sitting trot, I could care less about what I look like!
I go for the sports bras that are all elastic with no “cup” in them. They seem to hold me the best so far…
Different bras work for different people, and you may have to just keep trying different ones until you find something good. I (34D) am a great fan of Champion sports bras, specifically the Powersleek sports bra which has no underwire and is supportive enough for my purposes. I can’t wear a racerback bra because my shoulder problems keep me from being able to unroll the back. This bra and some of their others are on sale at their website right now. They don’t hold up extremely well; I have two and replace them about once a year; this is with riding 5 times per week.
Those work okay for me…under a coat anyway, with a normal support bra over it. I do tape the girls down though because of the “hefting” (what I call it, you know, when the boobs are flattened but still manage to try and sproing up towards your chin in a unique flat stretching motion).
There has to be something that can contain, you know?
There is a brand called Goddess bras. They have a really good sports bra. It is a modified uniboob.

This … only thing that works for me!
I used to do the multi bra approach and then this past summer I thought of trying the sports bra with the Spanx top pulled over. It really helped. Better than taping and a lot more comfortable.
(36D) I’ve been having very good luck with an industrial strength bra and the camisoles with the built in shelf, I still have some shape and I don’t bounce that much. Only thing I don’t like is the cleavage factor, I always find bits of hay in my cleavage when I get home  the SO always remarks 'rolling around in the hay with Javier again, eh?"
perhaps the sports bras are a good tip to try. thanks
Wacoal minimizer. With underwires, and not the one with plain cups. Two boobs that won’t flop or flap.
The Enell works for me.
I was using a regular sports bra and I knew there was some jiggling, but it didn’t bother me too much. Then I took one longe lesson and thought I was going to get smacked in the face! I rush ordered an Enell before my next longe lesson. I’ve got two now that I rotate through and although they are uncomfortable to get on, I adjust once it is on and they keep everything in place. But they aren’t very comfortable to wear for much longer than a barn visit, I strip it off as soon as I get home.

eta: It is a uniboob bra. But frankly, I’m just too big to get support while riding from anything that’s not a uniboob bra.
Enell, Enell, Enell.
I had to run too, for my job. Ouch.
I wish I could afford Enells for work, they are fabulous for posture.
When brand new are a little restrictive feeling at first, but as soon as you get used to it, they are WONDERFUL.
Honestly.
I used to do underwire under 18 hr Posture under snug sports bra.
Short of duct tape or vetwrap, I’ve not found something that I can run, do jumping jacks, SIT the trot and canter in.
My horse actually appreciates it too because my balance is helped so dramatically.
ENELL.
(though I am dying to try Coreene’s recommendation… )
I have a great Nike one that I got that crosses in the back. Its made for runners who have large boobs… and it works great.
I still have the old bras that I have to wear 2 and 3 at a time, but really once the stretch is that worn out we should all just toss them and get better support.
We’ll need to create a “I have big boobs that will be at my knees by 40, thanks to my horse” group!
PP, you can get one NWT on eBay for about $25 including shipping. And run and sit the trot etc without any floppage.
I use Movin Comfort’s Mia bra…but I use two of them…comfortable and works!
this one has powerful support, looks decent and is really comfy - doesnt put the pressure on the shoulders some do.
Titile Nine has a Frog bra (no bounce) it’s calle dThe Frog bra. It is a serious masher, but I really don’t care as long as I don’t move.
Thanks everybody! Are Enells sold retail? They look like something one would really need to try on for the correct fit.
Another vote for Enell. Yes, it’s a uniboob bra, but I’ll take a stationary uniboob over two bouncing all over the place any day. I haven’t found a bra nearly as supportive.
Some people say they can ride in the Wacoal minimizer bra, which is really an every day bra. They don’t offer enough support for riding for me, but they are the single BEST every day bras I’ve ever tried on. They might be supportive enough for you, though, so worth a shot.
I believe they are. However, most sites have a sizing chart that is very accurate.
They are somewhat difficult to get on at first (and SNUG), but worth the extra effort.
I do the 2 bras method…mostly because I am too cheap to buy a really expensive sports bra and because I have a small band size I go and buy a bunch of cheap sports bras and layer them… I do the same thing for running too actually.
Really though for most of my riding I wear my regular underwire and put a sports bra over that.
