Dressage - Michael Barisone

Are we back to this again? Yes. By everyone’s account, Barisone was the only one with a gun. He has never claimed otherwise.

@BrendaJane As many threads on the topic have pointed out, SS is not just about sexual abuse. However, someone has to report the problem and investigation needs to verify it. Then the only possible sanction is suspension from USEF or FEI activities.

SS doesn’t have teeth to touch trainers outside the USEF sports who might be not showing, schooling shows, or in other disciplines. And there is nothing in SS about fraud or really about horse care.

SS was created to primarily protect young athletes from sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by coaches, after shocking revelations in gymnastics. It is not a code of conduct for the equestrian industry.

I wonder why no charges have been filed, that we are aware of, for the illegal recordings?

Because we are not privy to any information regarding whether those actually exist or are technically illegal? You know, cause mainly what happens here is wild speculation?

They are mentioned in the above article, with a quote from MB’s lawyer.

And none of those things have been verified or adjudicated.

I do not disagree with that. Just pointing out that they are in that article, which in past threads, something being mentioned by a news source was enough proof for certain topics.

It is interesting that it is the prosecutor that says that recordings do exist.

From the article: “There are about 20 recordings, said Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Schellhorn.”

I sort of doubt the assistant prosecutor would be making anything up.

According to palm beach property records he still owns the farm in Loxahatchee.

and every mentioning of SS points back to sexual abuse.

just scroll up a couple of posts ‘women don’t sexually abuse’
So, what is SS for?
If the animal abusers don’t get reported. Or allegations of criminal activity (like recording private conversations) are not looked at.

there are way too few women on that list. Pure statistics.
And it begs the question of why some people get investigated while others do not.

The sport needs to do better and do less hush hush

Interesting, thanks.

I wonder if his girlfriend (fiancée?) carried on with the training business there, or went in a different direction.

If you are unsure how SS functions there are good threads on Coth.

It is not an equestrian initiative. It is a new international effort by the Olympic committee mandated by the Federal government. Its primary purpose has always been addressing sexual abuse of young athletes and also physical and emotional abuse. But it was brought in because of sexual abuse of junior athletes in other disciplines. It’s not a horse specific initiative.

The only sanction is suspension or expulsion from rge sport body, that is USEF.

Investigation needs to be triggered by a complaint.

SS has no mandate to discipline the seedier ends of the horse business, which is entirely unregulated small business under whatever state or local laws apply. Anyone can set themselves up as a horse trainer, whisperer, dealer or coach. Buyer beware.

Other state and local laws may apply to egregious fraud or animal cruelty. But basically its an unregulated free market out there. SS is not set up to deal with this peculiarity of the horse world *because it isn’t an equestrian organization. * The SS folk oversee all organized sports. They take complaints from horse world, gymnastics, swimming, etc. They have nothing to do with how these folks run their facilities financially.

And their legality has not been determined.

Unrelated, I’m so glad in brendajane we have a new whatabout-er.

I also feel like the double girl name masks the identity of a rampant misogynist.

How is this member a misogynist?

You can quote my post if you’re going to lie about what I posted. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Women are SATISTICALLY less likely to abuse. That’s a fact. Thus, them showing up less on a safe sport suspension list would align with that fact. Nothing more. Nothing less. No comments about under reporting in either abuse by women or men.

Also, Safe Sport was created for a specific reason. It doesn’t cover horse abuse. It’s not meant to cover every single bad thing that happens in the horse world. It is what it is, and it is easy to find out what it does cover.

I found Women to be vindictive and some are unable to Ever get past something that men will discount as a blip not even noticing. I do not know, nor ever met LK nor do I ever want to be anywhere near her.

SafeSport isn’t about the horses.

To report concerns about the horses there are other means.

Yet here you are, pot stirring on a BB of mostly women. Your personal feelings do not change a STATISTIC. That’s the beauty of it.

For almost everything clanter posts, it’s some sort of personal story or personal feeling, nearly never contributing to the topic at hand.

I want to make a bot that automatically responds “cool story bro”.

I know lots of clanters. I call them “one uppers.”

Maybe they are not the problem.
