Dressage stallions that give great dispositions :)

The way a young horse is started and how considered the rider is of the youngster’s personality, plays a big role of how “rideable” that horse is.
Keep that in mind before before launching a wholesale condemnation of a particular stallion !
Being in a situation where I have to repair the damage done by a particular heavy handed “trainer”, I can vouch for this.

Our Fabuleaux coming-3-yr-old filly is totally calm, laid back, & a sweetheart, but I think she’ll be an A-hunter rather than a dressage queen.

Our weanling Contucci is HUGE, spectacular, and we’d call him Joe Cool if he’d just wear sunglasses. Big sweetheart, we liked him so much we’ve a full sibling in the oven for 2012.

Sir Sinclair!

Ditto SWDressage. I’ve known many Sirs and have a 4 year old homebred by him. I have yet to see any stallion stamp his get like Sir does. Temperament, movement, long legs, athleticism and rideability.

I agree on Fabuleux. I have personally known about 6 and all were the same easy going, non-spooky and happy to work types.

I have a 2 1/2 yr old Royal Prince grandson (Razmataz by RP out of a Banter mare) out of a G-line Hano mare. (I had his 1/2 sister, but lost her to colic) and he has been super easy so far (so was his 1/2 sister, though she had a little more of an “attitude”, which I think she got from her dam, another G-line mare). Pretty laid back, eager to please and very very nosy!

The next year or so is going to seem soooooo long as we wait for Rapport to mature physically. But he’s already showing that he’s got a good work ethic. I’ve started him long lining etc. and he is one focused young horse! From what I’ve seen and heard, his sire and siblings are the same way.

Ok out of this list…

Non-modern, great walk, and great loin and topline

Who is high on the list for those and disposition?

I am thinking Bugatti, but are his foals musclebound? I need more bone too

I never heard of Sir Sinclair before (I live under a rock apparently). But I am impressed with him. He looks like a cool horse in every way.

I am interested in what those in the know would think of his “type”

Here’s a Bugatti filly. She was Top Filly at her AHS Inspection.

Goodness! That is a lovely filly (where is the whistle smiley ) !

Point made

That Bugatti filly hangs her halter at my place right now and she’s a love :). She was bred by Forward Farms and I am lucky enough to own her. She is long legged and has plenty of bone. Very modern. She will be tall, right now 16.3. She has just gone to my trainer for boot camp and is doing well. (grew tall as a youngster, but no OCD!).

Peg

I should add the fact that my Benidetto filly is with my trainer as well and is also doing well. She is modern, excellent type, light forward movement. She is more sensitive than the Bugatti filly, but not as tall and should wind up around 16.1 to 16.2. Will keep you posted on their progress as they train this winter.

My Bugatti filly is quite refined but she is also 64% xx/ox (her mother is an Oldenburg but had lots of Anglo-Arab and TB blood!)
This girl was also the Champion of her large inspection

And another Bugatti filly out of an exceptional SPA/EM who was trained to I-1. She was also the top foal at inspection for AHS. She is tall, but both parents are 16.3 and I expect she will be that size too. Good bone, is muscular, but not overly so. Very easy to work with.

She is ready to go to my young horse starter next week, but I prepped her and saddle, bridle, sidereins, verbal commands and intro to free jumping were all very easy to teach.

My mare is a TB, but Id take something like your filly any day!

I have been very impressed by all of the Bugatti babies that I have had the pleasure of seeing. They all seem to have great dispositions and are beautiful!

Bugatti and Escudo II are my favorites. There hasn’t been one baby or adult horse that I have seen that I didn’t like. Here’s a link to my Escudo II filly. Keep in mind that she is out of an Arabian mare - the mare is approved AHS and the filly is Hanoverian. She’s just 2 in this photo.

PP, Sir Sinclair is considered a modern rectangular model type. He has a great walk also. I believe “modern” refers to horses that are more refined. My youngster looks just like her sire. Unless the mare is gray (and passes along her gray gene), the Sir offspring are always bay with little or no white. They typically have nice heads and very long legs. They can be a tough saddle fit when they are younger. Most are not built uphill, but are very well balanced and athletic.

I know Sir personally (have been in the stall with him when he was a 5 year old) and he has a wonderful temperament. One of my very good friends has trained quite a few of his offspring and loves riding them. Two of my other friends competed Sir in the 5 and 6 Year Old Young Horse Championships where he was Reserve Champion of the country both years. He went to the World Young Horse Championships in Verden when he was 5. The Sirs are very smart. Almost too smart for some. My mare removes her halter from the fence and shakes it at me when she wants me to bring her in. Otherwise she doesn’t touch it. This line also has a propensity for licking and pawing. Not meaning to hijack this thread, but PP asked and I love touting Sir Sinclair’s virtues. Unfortunately, his career was cut short due to Lyme Disease from which he never fully recovered.

I agree with the mention of many stallions on this thread. Many Rubinstein line and Donnerhall line stallions will be very reliable, as are Bugatti, Fabuleux, Sir Sinclair (I have seen many under saddle and know his former rider), Wolkentanz I and Hotline in my experience. I am sure there are many others.

Here is my latest Bugatti - a 2011 colt out of my mare Wintermaske (Weltbekannt/ Rubinstein I). His full sister is the picture under saddle. She made a 8.5 on rideability after only 60 days of training.

Thanks Maude, he doesn’t look like what I had in my head as modern (which to characterize, to me means a bit like a cross between a TB, a greyhound and a speedboat  ) To me he looks a little more old style with lighter bone and prettier. I like him a lot, you are very lucky.
