Dump cart for ATV

I have been using my Rubbermaid wheeled cart for manure and I love it, easy to push and easy to dump. Highly recommend!

But now, I want to start using the ATV more. I have a pull behind JD cart that I use and I hate it. When I go to dump the manure, it only tilts up about 60 degree and I end up having to shovel or fork the manure out. With the cart, I can tip it past 90, so no residual. I’d like to do the same with the pull behind… or at least have it all slide out. I can disconnect the cart and dump it, but that’s kind of a pain too, it doesn’t tip as easy as my Rubbermaid so I’m looking for a replacement.

Anyone have a good model that they like? I have looked online and the store and have not found one yet. I was thinking some of the ones with the flat back that opens might be better than the sloped back I have.

I hate shoveling twice, so any recommendation would be appreciated.

I have a Gorilla cart. I like it. I doesnt dump completely but close to it. I had a metal cart from TS. It dumped completely but being metal it lasted a few years then rusted through.

I have the Gorilla cart and a larger Ohio Steel cart (which is mostly plastic) Neither dump well, both pull behind the ATV well and stand up to the abuse of farm life)

Thanks, I’ve looked at the gorilla cart and it seems very similar to mine… oh well

Some day I want one of these: https://woodlandmills.com/product/woodland-atv-trailer/

Whoa…that Woodland trailer is the stuff dreams are made of
Now I think my dump carts suck even more!

Oooh, that’s snazzy! but pricey!

I 've had this one for about a year. I’ve used it very hard, and hauled lots of heavy loads as well as daily manure runs. I really like it. It has a hydraulic assist and dumps well.

The trick with all of these is to not overload the front end so you can dump out of the back.

This one does not open to 90 degrees; it dumps like a wheelbarrow would. But if you really want it all on the ground, you can dump then pull forward a bit.

That one is the top contender that I have found so far…

I never have trouble dumping with the one I have, I can tilt the cart easily, it just doesn’t flow out. Wet sticky fresh manure and bedding…… Even pulling forward, the stuff doesn’t flow out…

That one only has two wheels - one axel. You will not be able to “park it” in the barn and not have it tip one way or the other. My Gorilla Cart has two axels. I can park it in the aisle while I clean stalls, then either roll it out of the way or hook it up if I am dumping right then. This is the one I have. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Gorilla-Carts-1-200-lb-Heavy-Duty-Poly-Dump-Cart-GOR6PS/206762395

I came across an ATV with a dump bed — similar to what UTVs have, but this was an ATV. I believe the dump bed can be purchased as an add-on through after-market retailers. The length of an ATV plus cart would not work for our tight corners, and as much as I love our Gorilla Cart for in-hand use, the hitch handle is not built for backing with a vehicle.

Hmmm. I back mine up . But really, why bother? It is so easy to move it around in hand, no need to back much. The handle swivels out of the way and exposes a slot to fit over the hitch, with a hole for the pin… With a dump bed on an ATV the platform is higher up - tossing manure up there could really get tiring after a while.

I have this one and like it. But may not be big enough for you (?)

I have considered a UTV…… Trying to justify the purchase!

yeah, a little on the small side

We have a small Newer spreader that the atv can pull and spread. My cousin has one that she built taller sides on so it will hold more manure. It is light weight and easy to use and we’ve been using it for several years now.

I found that if it has the door in the back like this one it dumps more completely

That one might be a bit small but you get the idea. Pull the sliding door up, dump, and you are done.

Something to try would be to line the cart with a tarp that hangs out over the sides (especially up front by the ATV). When you tilt it to dump, you can then stand behind and give the tarp a tug and it will “roll” the load out. (Helps to have some rope on the tarp.)

I was hauling heavy wet leaves today in our Rubbermaid dump cart (with a removable back panel) and did that and it worked great.

This is the cart we have (got it at a yard sale for $25!) https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Commercial-Tractor-Capacity-FG566000BLA/dp/B001L4GSDM

I was wondering about that… it seems it would work better that way, thanks
