Dutch harness horse drama. Update major mare/ foal neglect Nov 2023 post 1782 Update Kate Shearer responds post 1930 Nov 25/23

Actually, in Florida the entire report is essentially available to the public, minus the normal redactions of social security number, etc. In my former life I obtained quite a few for work related reasons. Obviously some officers/deputies are more verbose and descriptive than others in their report-writing. In this case, one involved party helpfully provided a copy of the case number in a public post, so a report does exist. But I hardly think this case is interesting enough to warrant the $2 fee.

Ah maybe someone will. Not going to be me though.

This. One glance at her FB page and then reading this thread I can’t imagine ever wanting to deal with her in any capacity, let alone the purchase of a horse.
Do people not realize this kind of public behavior is extremely damaging to their business?

A bar fight? Oh, lordy.

Seriously? I disagreed with you once on fb. Never met you and don’t care about you yet you come on here with all these statements. I’m sorry I disagreed with you but really this is getting a bit much. And no I was assaulted from behind my back at a restaurant; there was no bar fight. Get your facts straight. Now lady go away. For goodness sakes. If you can’t handle one person, actually multiple on the fb thread, disagreeing with you about one judge then just walk away. This is comical.

We teach our kids - at least I do- that it doesn’t really matter what someone says to you or calls you- touching them (In this case throwing a drink) is never the answer.

Calling someone a slut or the like is pretty tame to me. Throwing water on someone, though probably satisfying to him in the moment, is battery.

The judge very well may have seen bad behavior on both parts and excused it, I don’t know. I am surprised that so many people don’t seem to think that was an an appropriate . (If I’m going to get cited or arrested it’s not going to be because I threw water on them :joy:)

It seems a better grasp of the definition of harassment would be in order. It doesn’t mean discussion and disagreement, which has been the direction of this thread. I’ll go back to just reading now, so no need to fire off another disingenuous reply.

For light entertainmen, this thread is topping charts.

But now I’m feeling anxious and insecure because I didn’t start my youngster as a two-year old. I’m only just sitting on her now, at four-and-a-half. Argh, I hate the horse world.

Did I miss where someone is excusing the battery?

Dumping a beer on someone is wrong and it appears the arrest and charge was appropriate.

It’s a bit unusual for the victim to subsequently be barred from the premises after being assaulted but those details are a bit murky.

Agree 100%. It’s never ok in my opinion to lay hands (or throw beer) on someone else over an insult.

It seemed like some posters are mocking someone for calling it assault ( I’m guessing it could be either assault or battery- I don’t know the details) and having the person cited/arrested. It sounds like bad behavior all around, but actions have consequences (whether it’s getting water tossed at you or being the tosser ).

This has not even gone to trial yet or been plead out. It just happened on Nov 20. Because the twins are identical and Neil fled the scene and is a British national…police could not track down an address. They finally called his mother to find him and he turned himself in after thanksgiving. But what their group of friends have done has been heinous after the fact contacting people saying I’ve said horrible(cannot be repeated) things about them, followed me around town, literal death threats etc. Luckily I have very loyal people so all of this, plus the social media stuff and even someone trying pound my front door in has been added to the file as they would like to pursue more charges. So when I say this communication board has been sent to the detective, that is because they want to satisfy more charges and the fact that the OP brought the case into question at the very beginning shows more harassment which is a fall out from the battery. Not that the OP is harassing, or the people here, but it shows the fall out which can be included in the long list of things that have been done against me since the incident. Now since this is public record all the speculation here can go by the wayside.

I was in fact not barred from any premises. In fact, one of their friends, a bartender at another establishment, was subsequently fired for his social media threats against me. But there are always two sides to a story. It’s been pretty miserable actually as this group of friends is known for this type of behavior.

It really has been all over the place, hasn’t it?

For the record, while I disagree with those that insist that riding 2-year-olds will ruin them, there’s also nothing wrong with waiting til a horse is older to start him under saddle if that’s what works for you! It’s just not inherently more humane or better for every horse.

(I rode my 2-coming-3-year-old today. I pulled him out of the field, got on, and we went for a little walk around the farm and through the woods for 15-20 minutes)

@Kasheare, please know that a public discussion board like this can be used by attorneys to help discredit parties who post about their cases. This could have a negative impact on your case. Just FYI, as you have an attorney, you may want to discuss with them whether or not you should be posting on a public discussion forum.

I have an attorney for the civil side of things now. Nothing I stated is not public record and cannot discredit me in anyway. I’m just tired of this thread and people literally trying to take me down and belittle me. I’ve done nothing wrong. All information about my entire life has pretty much been brought up and posted. There is literally nothing left to offer. Not sure if that was the intention to literally take a person down until there is nothing left, and then they find joy in this, or what the purpose of all of this is. But I’m just done. You all win. Thank you for making me feel like I’m a worthless individual after berating every year I’ve spent on my education and studying of breeding lines and my business. You win!

Don’t you worry @Scribbler I’m not changing my words. Congrats. Hope you enjoy making a person feel the way you’ve made me feel. You win! I do not wish your insane internet wrath on anyone else. May everyone bow down to the best destructor coth has seen.

Ignoring the mishegoss…

I bought her as a two-and-half year old, intending to start at 3. How clever am I, I thought. Buying a youngster from a reputable breeder. People who know the breed in question (PRE) well said they were good, baroque lines. However, allegedly reputable breeder had let her get knocked up, and she dropped a foal a couple weeks short of her third birthday. I was unaware of said pregnancy until a week before she foaled (she did not show!), so that was cool. Weaned foal last January, at seven months, but she didn’t seem ready at all until this fall/winter.
