This made me choke. I can see the whole dang thing. Unfortunately, I am visualizine my own mother’s see through blue baby doll nightgown I was dismayed to see once. Oh my goodness.
Yup. Borium soldered onto the bottoms of the shoes for winter. My philosophy is I don’t want my 30k horse doing a split on the ice going downhill to to the barn.
(Edited: I’m a nurse, and almost said “Barium”. heh heh.)
No, I"m not, but that’s why I codified my comment with “Correct me if I’m wrong”. There are, for certain, hundreds of thousands, and I once heard how many there were on this forum, years and years ago, which blew my mind. So the subject of this thread needs to rethink her comfort level about who and how many are actually reading, or know someone who has read, this thread.
I’d love to know.
Do users me active people who sign in, or do users mean readers who do not sign in too? Is there a way to have a count of people who read but do not sign in?
No one cares about online bully websites which is what coth is known for now. It’s very rarely used for actual educational information anymore.
Should be, I can see that on my blog so I’m sure CoTH can!
Utter nonsense. COTH is one of the best places to learn all sorts of things from very basics to wildly rare medical issues to training, etc. There is some merely entertaining content, but in general, it’s not hard to wade through that to find really good information.
This thread may be an exception - there’s more wading than normal, but there is tons of good information on a variety of topics (I mean holy cow, somehow we got to winter traction for shoes!) even here in this mile long meander.
Well, this thread has gotten 14,000+ eyeballs so far.
I’ve quite enjoyed the DHH-education. Really did learn about KWPNs!
If tracking is set up properly (and given the number of advertisers it should be!), yes, number of clicks on the forum and on forum pages and possibly even on threads is probably being measured. But thread clicks may not be since when one is in a thread there are no ads visible.
COTH is one of the few large BBs left
In my time, I’ve seen the following bloom ferociously then just… die.
Cyberhorse (huge. Basically COTH for Australians. Then… dead)
Eques Horse hub (turned into a Facebook group)
2 x Cyberhorse spin-offs, can’t even remember the hosting name let alone the forum names. Both gone.
Ultimate Dressage
It’s About the Horse (for people kicked out of Parelli, you could not beat it for gossip. The hoofcare threads were epic flame wars in the end)
Before I used to have a few boards to cruise around and read. Now… just COTH. Thanks, Facebook.
As with many things in life, it’s what you make of it. I wouldn’t say it’s well known as an online bully website, do you have proof of that? It’s just a really “big” thing to say and I feel as though the term “bully” is thrown around and used very casually nowadays. Someone(s) that question, doubt, or hold opposing views to you doesn’t = bully.
There’s actually tons of useful info here in the archives and in active threads. It can be a great resource and even provide some good support at times. It’s often the posters that don’t hear what they want to hear who get all uppity and start bashing COTH, instead of taking a moment to think about what the majority is saying. If you really don’t agree and the place isn’t worth your time, then walk on.
I do think there are some bitter posters on COTH and people just looking to be offended at times, but you’re not going to like every single person in a large group so…meh. A lot of doubt is also shown on COTH, but people don’t know you (generally speaking, not you specifically) so as with many groups you sort of have to prove yourself or explain yourself further. I’ve wanted to rage quit COTH at times because there are some individuals here who just come off as miserable or purposely obtuse, but they’re the minority, thankfully.
It kind of depends on how long the thread is. The ads are there at the beginning of the thread.
(I know this because I have to slide my window over so they do not show because flashing ads of models looking like they are advertising more than horse clothes do not seem appropriate at work to me.)
Thanks for clarifying how that works!
Are those unique views?
Link?
And yet, here you are.
Anytime I suggest CoTH on a FB post for information there are always one or two people who reply with how CoTH is nasty, full of old bitter women who don’t even ride. Horrible place, terrible place etc.
So yes, there are lots of people out there who think that.
I always encourage people to come to CoTH to learn and discuss. Despite not enjoying some posters here, I enjoy CoTH and its resources immensely.
Apparently not, just times the thread has been viewed.
Having said that, I’ve often looked at threads I’ve started and the view count doesn’t increase each time I click on it (when it’s first posted, and at a time when most viewers are asleep), so it may not increase if you have a cookie saved and click back to read new posts multiple times in a day.
