Dutch harness horse drama. Update major mare/ foal neglect Nov 2023 post 1782 Update Kate Shearer responds post 1930 Nov 25/23

I would guess the threat of taking them to an auction is more for drama than anything else.

More of her proclaiming - your people are mean and ruined my business so look what you did, they are all going to an auction.

It was also an independent specialty so a show the handler was otherwise not attending and went just for her dog. The rate for those tends to be higher since you’re the only client for the event.

But a group auction isn’t the same as shipping to a commercial auction. I just don’t think it’s what she’d choose. Of course she is queen of the bad choices, so maybe she is thinking “European WB sale.” It’s possible. But I’m very curious since I associate this with what I’ve heard of bankruptcy or lien sales.

In the past, she has tried to sell some through Sport Horse Auctions. My guess is that’s who she will use again. I know they handle herd disbursements as well.

Sport Horse Auctions was my first thought too. Honestly I hope she does an auction with them and gets out of breeding entirely. It would be the best thing for the horses.

I’m not familiar with this company. Do they have any sort of minimum standards for the animals they are willing to represent?

This post of hers is just another example of what a pathological liar she is. None of this is true. She was not the one who made Sandy pay Deborah. It was two other braiders who did that for her. Crazy Kate had zero to do with that. Of course she thinks she was involved, when all of this crap had nothing to do with her. The thing is, she is loving the attention. That’s why she does what she does. I’m actually worried that one day she will completely lose it and hurt someone or a horse. As we can see here, she already abuses horses. She is not a good person in any way. There is not person I know who likes this girl.

My head may explode. In over 30 years of working on breeding farms, foaling out etc. I have never lost a mare (frantically knocks on wood) … but have lost 4 foals. :persevere: And I would never say only 4 foals - because each one of them was a precious life that I fought for.

In other words, the old OMG!!! The Truck Is Coming!!! excuse/grift.

Where is that foal’s mother?

This was my mare somewhere around 10 months, and I kept her in full work though month 6 and hacked her from then until 8 months. There is no excuse for skinny mamas - NONE! I hope this woman never touches a horse again.

Well, of course she’d first have to find a restaurant that would serve her.

Kate has 5.5 thousand “followers” on FB though no doubt many of us are just there for the drama. 179 people wished her happy birthday this week. 6 people have made mildly supportive comments on her OMG auction cruel world post.

I still think it’s a weird pivot to go from “look on and admire my fantastic breeding program” to “herd dispersal auction in one month” in the space of 48 hours. Either she is lying about the herd dispersal to buy time or pity, or she is under strong external pressure. Like bankruptcy, a stablemans lien, or AC.

Good question how someone goes from the best world champion jumper foal (or whatever) to not being able to keep anyone working for her to just feed the horses.

If you want to sell horses and can pay them their fee, they will set up an auction site for you. Period. They’re not arbitrating the quality of the stock being sold. They just set up auction websites for anyone who pays. That’s their business. I think they also hold some live sales (at least before the pandemic they used to) that different people can pay to enter that are more “open to the pubic” as compared to being a single owner/private sale but recently I have seen them do a lot of “one owner” “custom” virtual sales. Owner pays a fee and sends info, company sets up the online website and handles the sales end of things.

I see. Thanks.

Why is she banned from restaurants?

Have you got some boxed wine and popcorn?

Trot over to the H/J forum and read the saga over there. Buried within is the story of a night out where, in response to some sort of derogatory comment/ugly interaction/whatever (I honestly can’t recall), she retaliated by pouring beer over a guy’s head. Law enforcement called. Drama ensued. Then she slagged the restaurant online and is told not to return.

Of course, none of it was her fault.

Until the day she decides it was the demon rum (okay, beer or whatever) that made her do it. As well as taking credit for someone else’s braiding job until she decides it sucks and slags a braider, etc.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

:raised_hand: I have never been banned from a restaurant nor a grocery store, or really anywhere. Multiple bans definitely points to the common denominator of KS.

Really curious of the handler she used for her GSP. My aunt and I show GSPs and I know a lot of the handlers. Just recently a handler I know posted on FB upset someone didn’t pay their bill and was leaving them unread to “avoid confrontation about their bill.” Makes one wonder…:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

She should have read the contract. We always pay bonuses when the dog wins something with a handler. It seems standard operating procedure, and is always in the contract. We are learning to handle our own to cut down on costs because it can get pretty pricey…especially if your dog goes Best of Breed, Best of Group, or Best in Show.

Those horses are in horrible condition, shame on her. Being an absentee owner (if that’s really what happened in every instance), is no excuse. Ultimately you are responsible for ensuring your animals get proper care and stay in good health, regardless of who is in daily charge of caring for them.
