Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen eliminated in dressage: Horse's mouth bleeding.

Speculation on what happened?

I’m at work and not watching, but from what I’m picking up online I must say my alarm bells are going off bigtime.

My friend who is at the WEG’s just texted and said Parzival was eliminated for blood in the mouth.

Dutch number two Adelinde Cornelissen is out of WEG after blood was seen in the horse’s mouth in the grand prix

Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival, gold medal prospects at the World Games, have been eliminated after blood was seen in the horse’s mouth.

Judge at c and head of the ground jury Britain’s Stephen Clarke had to ask Adelinde to leave the arena after her halt and rein back on seeing the red in the foam around the horse’s mouth.

Speaking to Stephen Clarke at the national championships last month he said that he was honoured to have the responsibility of judging from C, but was dreading something like this happening and having to send a rider out.

Adelinde shrugged her shoulders and patted her horse, dropped her reins and walked out.

Up until that point she was well in the lead, scoring nines for their halt, extended trot and both half passes.

The Dutch still lead the team competition but being down to three riders Edward Gal cannot afford to have a big problem this afternoon on Totilas.

This puts Adelinde out of the individual competition too, and throws open the possibility for our top rider Laura Bechtolsheimer to stand even higher on that podium.

Wow! Had no idea she’d been eliminated. Kudos for the judge at C to stop her.

Watching this just made me ill. Parzival has been my favorite.

Anyone have photos or video clip?

I was right by E. The judge at E saw it as well.

I’m sure there are lots of people who will jump to the worst possible conclusions (no, it hasn’t happened here and it wouldn’t be limited to COTH in any case).
But it might be something as simple as the horse biting his tongue. It does happen.

Parzival bit his tongue

from bokt.nl:

Just went Adelinde Cornelissen launched during Parzival Dressage Nation.
Unfortunately Parzival probably bite his tongue during the test, allowing blood from his mouth.
The jurybel sounded and Adeline was immediately disqualified and had to leave the ring …

During the check after leaving the ring showed that indeed Parzival had bitten his tongue.
For the disqualification, she in the lead with an average of 80%. There is deep disappointment in the Dutch camp.

Unfortunately, this means that Adelinde and Parzival did not qualify for the individual title.

Still, so unfortunate this wonderful horse will not be able to compete.

Weird. USA competitions are not so lucky for Parzival…he was injured and didn’t compete in his last appearance here in LV WC.

Good for the judge at C. http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/weg/latest_news/article.php?id=302296

Eventing Nation has a photo of her schooling at the horse park. http://eventingnation.com/home/2010/09/late-night-links.html

He bit his lip

Oh my lord, that picture is really disturbing! Thank goodness the judges saw the blood in his mouth, that poor horse!! This is a disgrace.

Where did you see that she took herself out? Dressage Daily is reporting that the Judge at C had to excuse her. Bit his lip? Hmmmmm. Either way that photo on eventing nation is truly disturbing.

Judge at “C” - S. Clarke had to blow her out because he is the jude and that’s the protocol but it was a bit on the lip

Yes, the horse obviously did it to give the keyboard jockeys something to honk about. Give it a rest. If it had been Ravel there would already be a kumbayah jingles daily chain.

Or not.

I look forward to seeing the videos from the warmup ring, which somehow you just KNOW are going to surface very shortly.

Ah, horses. Such eloquent timing for things like biting their tongue or lip, throwing a shoe, hives, etc.

What does any of this even mean?

Adelinde seems to have the worst luck on U.S. soil. :frowning:
She had to withdraw from the WC in Las Vegas last year because Parzival was off.

I am sorry that he bit his lip, I would have liked to have seen her continue on to the Freestyle.

so was that her picture on Eventing Nation? It was not identified. It was a Dutch rider on a chestnut horse, in Rollkur.
