Overbent in the neck, falling out thru the shoulder, tense horse being flung around by a pure hand ride. Did anyone see a single correct rein back step? Diagonal pairs anyone? Nope. This is just a horse being jerked around by the bit. Awful ride.
Yup…saw that too. At no point was the horse ever in balance. Nuno just kept kicking him around, throwing him off balance, while the horse tried desperately to regain it. Dreadful riding!
Perhaps SLC doesn’t want the “gift” of these DVDs because she doesn’t feel the need to support these dreadful riding/teaching techniques. Bravo, SLC!
Plus, what a waste of resources.
The man was a genius. And don’t confuse training for the finished product. Not well known but true, even Klimke (as well as other big names) did some training with Nuno. There’s a reason for that.
Im sorry but training is the only way to get to the “finished product”. If the training is as bad as what I see on the video (I am talking about the grey) what is the finished product going to be?
I have only seen the clips on youtube, not the whole DVD, but I was very unimpressed by what I saw. I found the relentless lateral work and reinback very disturbing. Does he ever just go forward walk, trot, canter on simple lines or circles? I guess he doesn’t believe in “calm, forward, straight”???
Of course he did.
“calm, forward, straight” are the trues values in his riding.
Look at videos where he rode horses he longer has train, like Bunker or Soante. Never saw such great Lightness (absently of resistants against hands or legs)! It gets me tears in my eys ever I watch them.
The horses are very calm but not sleepy, they are very concentrated. For me it seems, that they ask for the riders thoughts and want to get them.
And of course he rides on a straight line.
But never forget:
Riding on a straight line, is the most difficult thing to do, not the most easyest thing. If you you realize this, you can understand why he often rides in sidewalks. Its the preparation to get on a stright line in a perfekt equilibrium.
