The last group with no scores are riders that had to do SAT test this morning. They will jump last and they flat.
I think it is quite nice that since this fell on an SAT testing day, you figured out a way to allow riders to do both.

On the order of go for the gymnastics phase, there are a number of riders after Lillie Keenan is listed. Is there a reason why they do not have a flat phase score?
Here are the riders:
60 597 Isabelle Caccamise
61 562 Emma Tyrrell
62 555 Addison M. Gierkink
63 448 Alexa R. Boggio
64 364 Heather M. Flynn
65 592 Allison Toffolon
66 347 Diederique van der Knaap
67 583 Kate Ross
68 546 Megan Mac Pherson
Edit: Thank Molly99

Ha, that’s funny! (And yes, glad they were able to make concessions for them—what a stressful day for the poor kids.)
I am so glad they stream this!! I can’t tell if they are just forward after the combination which makes it extra challenging to do a seamless halt, or if they were asked to hand gallop after the combination and then halt. It seems to me that some of the riders are almost asking for a lengthening? Maybe I am totally off. I’m excited to see the riders in the top 10!! It looks like a quite full and challenging course and kudos to all the riders
That is really great! I was kind of surprised by some of the riders that were in that group that is why I asked!
No pressure doing SATs and USET Finals in the same day, huh? Geeze Louise!!
Are riders supposed to finish on the left lead or are the just supposed to change lead?
Ohhh, man, what a bad stop for Gabrielle Bausano. She was having a really lovely round. I know the shadows are bad on that oxer now, as compared to earlier in the day. Such a shame.
Admittedly I ride mostly Tb’s, but I do train/practice halts on every horse I ride. And yes after forward combinations also.
Moreover I think if anyone thinks that having a responsive horse who can do a transition from “Go to Ho” is a big deal, we should all go back to the drawing board.
It’s an obedience question. Even the most basic of discipline riders should be able to go from a forward canter to stop. If you can’t, you shouldn’t be cantering. I don’t think it matters what breed of horse you’re on. It stops when I say stop. I am not, as a rider, saying to Dobbin “Oh please if it’s alright with you could we stop at some point. Thanks.”
My horses, as jumpers, absolutely know how to gallop, come back to near nothing, turn spin, go whatever and when done, stop. Dressage horses have a literal barrier, that they must balance back by. And most of them are warmbloods also.
Overall I guess I just think it shouldn’t be something that requires a pelham or an ultra experienced rider to attain. The good riders here, some with as little as 5 years in the saddle, have performed it well.

I don’t think either of these are fair comparisons. These riders are riding a very forward, jumper-like course. The pace required here is very different than a dressage test or a flat class. You try bringing a 1,200-lb. warmblood who’s just jumped through gymnastics at a pretty good clip from “go” to “no” in the span of a couple hundred feet.
Yes she was having such a nice round!! Looked like the horse lost his confidence a bit after he refused/sat down. She looks like a lovely rider.
ETA: I love Lilly Ulrich’s horse with the white in his tail!! So cool!
Oh that’s a shame. Well clearly you need to do the change. Was a nice horse too.

what a cute tail!

That would be Vocas, I believe. Mclain Ward’s old mount who switched to the equitation ring.
The horses aren’t necessarily in pelhams for brakes.
Think this will be put up on demand later? My friend dragged me to lunch and I missed a group of 14
Got back to see Gabrielle Bausano walking out, which stinks, if she was on Calito, I used to ride him sometimes and love seeing him go!
They are asked to hand gallop before the halt, which makes it much harder. Those who halt well may not have hand galloped too well, though there have been one or two that I thought did both exceptionally.
And yes, the horses are probably not in pelhams just so they can halt in time. Most of these horses need the extra leverage for a smooth course regardless of the halt in the middle.
I think nerves plays a huge part in setting them up for the halt, especially as they are gunning for the hand gallop down that long side. But I agree somewhat with Emily that the halt is an under-taught gait in the eq (and I say that as a former eq rider). Yes, they can all do it, but to do it extremely well requires a lot of practice. The eventers and dressage riders have that over us with having the requirement in their tests for a strong, square halt where the horse is balanced on the aids.
Is it just me or did Chase Boggio’s horse have a gag on? With double reins? Presumably one on the snaffle, and the pelham rein on the gag. Gag’s are legal!?

USET allows for jumper type bits, figure 8s etc.
