Edward Gal & Totilas 92.3% GPF at Olympia

To go back to the original point:

I have seen Totilas a numer of times - including at his latest world record breaking appearance at London’s Olympia - and I can’t help but think that his greatest critics must be those that have never seen him in the flesh.

Yes, he has some imperfections that have already been mentioned (neck looks too short esp in the extensions, hind leg needs to overtrack in extended trot, poll is not always the highest point - though this is fairly common in stallions due to their cresty necks - etc etc) but the whole picture that horse and rider present is one of total harmony.

To me he looks like the epitomie of a happy athlete. When the test finishes, Edward walks him out on the buckle and he is relaxed, looks around him and listens to the crowd. He is a supremely confident horse whose career has been very well managed.

(Incidentally, I have seen footage of Edward riding him from a couple of years ago and the horse did have lovely movement but was not asked to move in the way he does now.)
