EHV at Thermal?

I am in NorCal and my vet was not at Thermal, so seems like this is happening here as well. Fwiw, a lot of people left Thermal and came back here, so maybe same people but different location.

That is a shame. I am from there and that area. It is turning into a mess. Be safe!

Luckily my horse and client horses are in my backyard. We’ve been on strict lockdown (no outside horses or people that see other horses) since the first outbreak in San Mateo county in January. I’ve had to move back a new horse arrival, and likely cancelling attendance at an April show.

Going a little stir crazy. We are very fortunate to be safe and have a little bit of trail riding space though!

Are people really allowed to do that with a reportable disease circulating?

Two SoCal dressage shows scheduled for March 18-20 and 25-27 have been cancelled along with an event scheduled for March 18-20. Sadly, I don’t think the USEF 14-day hold is going to be enough with barns in Orange county, with hundreds of horses, just starting to show multiple positive cases. I think it is going to get worse before it gets better.

I pray the eventer who took horses from DIHP to the east coast didn’t take it EHV-1 with them.

No, I don’t think they are.

An event at Copper Meadows in mid-March just canceled too.

And Mai Baum. Then she shipped them to Ocala.

Yes they are. They are not required to test. My vet said they can do the best they can to strongly recommend it but they can’t require it. :worried:

Tonight’s (Friday) DIHP report is out. More negatives than posi. 3 weeks in, and seems to be looking up in the desert. :sparkling_heart:

They’re in Ocala? That’s messed up if true.

VERY messed up.

According the results page, she showed 4 horses (Elliot, S California, FW Royal, and Mai Baum) at Thermal on 2/9 and 2/10. Not sure if all went to Ram Tap and the east coast or not.

all four of those horses listed are entered at the Carolina International.

It surprises me that people aren’t being more open about who is moving horses around against protocol. How does the average person know that the horses stabled next to theirs or hanging out at the gate may have been exposed to a potentially fatal virus? If the information is publicly available with digging, then there should be no problem naming names.

If the offenders think they did nothing wrong by shipping horses around during this outbreak, they should have no issue with this information being publicly discussed.

But wasn’t the first recorded case reported on 2/11? If she showed on 2/9 and 2/10, and left on 2/10, that’s before any cases were known to the public.

After Thermal she took them to Ram Tap with 300+ horses showing and then shipped them to Ocala.

Omg someone needs to notify USEF. I’m not a member as a Canadian or I would do it.

When did she take them? What matters is the date things were done and the recommendations at the time the acts were done. You seem to know all the information, including accusing her and possibly a vet of falsifying documents, but you don’t provide any specifics.
