End of the year awards & winners.

Figured it’d be nice to post all the 2016 end of the year awards & winners in one place.
Feel free to add to the list as awards are handed out.

Big CONGRATS to Art Sherman! He’s such a classy, down to earth type of gentleman. He always has a moment to share with the press & the fans.

Minding is something else, I really hope they do decide to race her at four (though I’m doubtful). Lady Aurelia is the first U.S.-trained Cartier winner, I’m hoping she gets a chance to shine next year as well.

Here is a broader picture of the human side of the game. I am always skeptical when a jockey or trainer says I just stay out of the way or I am just along for the ride. If that were the case we would have smaller fields, more injuries, and less races, because I know of nothing more useless than a badly trained or ridden horse. All horses positively respond to good human care and attention.

Hodvey chimes in to suggest that the PWC, not the Eclipse, might settle the discussion on what horse is the best of the best.

2016 Moment of the year

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/219235/california-chromes-dubai-win-voted-moment-of-the-year

Chromes Dubai win is the fans pick for moment of the year

Since the Pegasus is 2017 it’s irrelevant to the awards discussion for 2016. HOTY for last year should be a lock for Chrome. The 3yos and Older Dirt Male should also be locks (Arrogate-I can’t see how EITHER of the other nominees are anything but “we have to nominate someone” as for the first time in years a crop DESERVES the label "weak—and Songbird, obviously.)

Dancer,

That was my thought as well. There’s no need to bring any discussion on the PWC into this thread. It has nothing to do with 2016.

Finest City is champion Female Sprinter
Drefong is champion Male Sprinter

Happy to see Finest City take Female Sprinter esp as she won the Santa Monica today at SA in nice fashion

Chad Brown won trainer.

The Perry Martin speech…OMG!

Don’t think I would disagree with any of the winners and most appeared to be decisive in terms of numbers of first place votes.

Definitely some class horses in the runner’s up as well.

The Perry Martin speech…OMG![/QUOTE]

I think the guy is an idiot. Unfortunate for the horse that he’s seemingly owned by “characters” who really aren’t deserving of his talents.

Link to the video of a not funny, rambling speech (which never thanked the horse, jockey or trainer) by Perry:
