Equivisor sun visor?

Who has one and how happy with it are you? I’ve read mixed reviews - some say they love it, others say it flies off in a slight wind.

How adjustable is it? Is it more likely to fly off of a smaller helmet size?

I love my equivisor so so much. It has saved me face countless times from frying. I don’t think it blows off with the slightest wind. You just have to keep it angled down so that a gust doesn’t come up underneath it. I’ve only had mine come off 2 or 3 times which is worth it to me. It is very adjustable because of the long velcro straps. It fits very well on my helmet but I wear it very often as just a visor, if that shows you how much it can be adjusted. I would imagine it would be less likely to fly off a smaller helmet size because the smaller it is the more velcro that is touching, but that’s just my 2 cents. I completely recommend them to everyone!

I like my equivisor a lot! I have only used it a handful of times but pretty much echo what was mentioned about.

Love mine. I have super pale Irish skin and have had skin cancer twice already so I very rarely ride without it. I’ve never had mine go flying off. I’m guessing maybe people don’t tighten them enough? It has very long velcro as mentioned and I wear a 6 3/4 helmet so I don’t think you’d have a problem.

I have an EquiVisor and it’s kind of heavy. It stays on okay. I like the Soless visor better. It has s clip on the front and stays on good.

Love mine too! I even jump with it on. While many comment on how funny it looks, they agree it really works after they borrow it for a ride.

I recently bought one and I really like it. I had it fly off once, but it was a very strong gust. I don’t care if they look strange - actually, the more I see them on other people, the less strange they look to me.

I bought one from Smarkpak because I’m fair skinned and burn easily. It works very well with keeping the sun off my face which is great, and I haven’t had any problems with it flying off in the wind.

However, saying that I wish I had returned the visor. As doublesstable said the visor is kind of heavy, and I can definitely tell; my neck hurts/I get headaches from having that extra weight on the front of my helmet. I usually can stand to wear the visor for half a ride and then it has to come off. Once it’s off it’s instant relief.

Someone on eBay sells helmet visors made with foam. Perhaps that’d be lighter?

does the equivisor eliminate the need for sunglasses?

I always cruise by the sun visors on the rare occasions I go to Target. Several nice scores on good ligt weight visors that fit helmets with a small Velcro strip addition.

Thanks everyone - all good things to know!

I have to agree about the Soless Visor. It’s more money, but it never flies off your helmet. You can also see through it which does make a difference in a crowded ring. It has UV protection, and also a clip that keeps it securely on your helmet, and weighs almost nothing. It is super durable also. I’ve had mine over a year and ride all day in it and it looks new.
Totally worth the extra cash.

I have been looking at the Da Brim sun visors:

Does anyone recommend those?

I just bought the Equivisor and it had its maiden voyage in Friday’s lesson. I didn’t notice it to be heavy, but I did notice that it’s a little hot when there is significant humidity–I think the sides keep any breeze from reaching your temples. My BFF and I were commenting this weekend that we think it would be best suited to a dry climate with lots of bright sun, like out West.

That said, I’ll keep using it, as I am also fair and Irish, and the bright sun just kills my eyes. I use sunglasses as well.

I wear glasses 95% of the time and find that I do not miss my sunglasses when I use the Equivisor. I also have the Solis one and do require sunglasses when I use that - it’s very lightly tinted and does not block the sun hardly at all. :frowning:

I have the Jute Equivisor. I have never had it fall off, it stays secure on my helmet (or on my head when I wear it like that). I’ve stopped squinting while I ride in the sun, because hey- I dont want pre-mature wrinkles

Keeps my face shaded and I’m obsessed.

I think one of the problems I have is the visor kind of weighs down the front of my helmet and as a result I tense up my neck muscles to keep my head up. (if that makes any sense)

Also I completely agree with you that the visor blocks the breeze from reaching your face. I live in the West and I found when I wore the visor that I was hotter.

I think it really depends on the person. The visor is very large and blocks the sun well so I can see some people not needing sunglasses. I personally found I still needed sunglasses.

I’ll have to see if I can find the seller! Thanks

Another thing I found is that the visor obstructed my peripheral vision. I would not wear the thing in a busy arena!

I think Cashel makes a foam visor. It didn’t look terribly attractive from the pics online, but I’m sure it would be lighter.

I was able to test one out for them a few years ago:

I found it to be incredibly hard to stay on without flapping off in the wind, and it was just incredibly awkward to wear. needless to say, I purchased an Equivisor shortly after that because I liked the idea of the visor, just needed something that was a little bit more petite.
