Eventing

are they going to have individual score sheets for eventing dressage, and, if so, where will they be found?

WFP just pulled a 37.5 or so. Tim Price and Ingrid Klimke are coming up soon.

very disappointed to see team Canada opted for top hats - so not cool.

I love WFP but he does look-not silly, but not serious in that hat! Why not wear the shortened version? And this Swiss rider honestly looks like a caricature as in the commercial running earlier this year about the hat maker. The ‘fashion’ became very tall hats, and some of them were 2-3 feet tall. Some tall people just don’t look right in them.

Just watched the video of Sinead’s ride…ugh! So close to the end when she went off course!

She looked bummed heading out of the arena…I feel for her!

BTW, who are the eventing dressage judges?

Holy smokes! I just got a chance to look through the XC photos. This is definitely not going to be a dressage competition!

viney, it looks like for the pure dressage, they put up PDFs giving all the judge info and individual marks after the live scoring was over. It was found on the dressage equivalent of this page:

Hopefully they will do the same for eventing, though I don’t know if it will be today or tomorrow that we see it.

Judge at C is Gillian Roland. She is an Aussie. The other two are German and French. Two of them seem to always track together.

Anyone hear the weather forecast for Saturday?

Sinead was not having the ride she is capable of even before going off course. Just wasn’t her day. We didn’t stay all day but were pretty disappointed by a good chunk of what we did see. A lot of the ho-hum didn’t look like a consequence of super keen horses being tense and explosive, but just weren’t trained/ridden to deliver that many 7s, much less 8s. It definitely isn’t going to be a dressage show so there will be a lot of movement on Sat.

Judge / Juge E : JAMES Alain FRA
Judge / Juge M : TOPP Ernst GER
Judge / Juge C : ROLTON Gillian AUS

On the start list !

Whoever is going out there in the first few runs is going to be extremely lucky! That footing is doomed :frowning:

Well, there’s the bright side (???) to US drawing first in the order of go.

Well now, most of that horrifying mud in the photos seems to be behind the tents. You could see where the trucks had been. The paths for spectators already looks plenty chewed up. But I didn’t see where the footing that the riders and horses have to cover is bad. It is Thursday. If it doesn’t rain anymore, it might dry out a bit before Saturday.

Have you guys seen the rider accommodations? Kinda funny but other than sleeping and showering they won’t spend any time in there I would imagine.

I think they are kinda cool! I know when I am at an event, come the end of the day all I need is a place to shower and sleep. I wish we had these at US events for a low fee…

(no traveling back and forth to the venue etc).

My fearless, undaunted prediction from out of left field:
WFP takes gold.

I can’t imagine Chilli Morning repeating Rolex 2012. Although he’s not the easiest horse to make the time with, IIRC.

I sure hope so - sounds like the footing it playing hell for the endurance riders.

The 5th photo shows it pretty darn muddy on course just from people walking - and we all know that galloping horses chew the ground up much more.

Fingers crossed for lots of dry, sunny, windy weather - because that ground does NOT look like it handles rain well at all.

Could they use helicopters to dry it out some? Or would that be just too expensive?

Aren’t there things they can do? Like putting down sawdust. Giant fans? Something?

From the French weather station, there is NO rain in the forecast tomorrow, Sat and Sun.
Clouds on Sat. am, but it does not show rain…
But we all know what weather forecasters are like …
