ExPat Shield/BBC watchers check in here!

I was able to install ExPat Shield (tip – it acted like it did not finish installing, but the icon on my start up screen worked anyway).

I am trying to learn the bbc website, which I got using this link once on Ex Pat Shield: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/2012/live-video

But I am a little unsure about navigating to get the next live equestrian feed. The bbc schedule says Sunday at 10, which would be 4 am Central Time, I think. I guess I will check the bbc website then and see what happens!

I just downloaded it too. Now I have ridiculous ads appearing at the top of the page that obscure my view…My pop up blocker is on high. Anyone else getting ads?? Can’t figure out how to disappear them !

FlyingPonies, I am not having that problem… I did have one banner ad but it had an “x” I could click and get rid of it.

A friend who got the expatsheild to work said to use this http://adblockplus.org/en/ to get rid of the ads.

Is the equestrian still on catch up?? I’m waiting to watch the dressage I missed.

Event4Life, thanks!! trying it now

ExPat Shield downloaded and installed, then said I did not have a program associated with it and I shoulod choose a program to associate with it.

What do I do now? What am I missing that everyone else has?

Just open a browser and start surfing to BBC websiite.

After I downloaded expat shield I could no longer connect to the internet.

I got it to work just fine.

I am looking at the bbc live equestrian page, and it has a yellow “catch up now” link to an on-line video of this morning’s dressage. But when I link to the player and ask it to play, all I get is a message saying “not working at this time”. Has anyone else been able to watch the archived video on bbc live?

That’s great.

Not using Expat Shield because I’m an actual expat  but just started getting 4 solid hours of BBC coverage of the 3-day dressage on TV. Sweet!

Aussie Christopher Burton’s test on Leilani was really lovely. Is any of this coverage available in the US, or should I just gloat a bit?

Sorry you can’t gloat; all us expats (don’t live in Blighty) can watch the BBC streams, LIVE.

Please, More help

Please help me! (I posted on the “watching now” thread, too.)

cnet/bbc clicked through fine, and I got to the catch-up video black screen. I clicked for starting, the circle went around, then the message came up,

“Content not available” ARGH!

It is 6:23 here in Va. Surely, they can make it appear…

I can get beach volleyball or catch-up of rowing, so the other sports are coming through…

whicker, everyone else seems to be having the same problem, so maybe just a matter of waiting until something gets fixed.

Thanks, To the Nines!

Same thing here. Was able to watch replay earlier this afternoon before heading to the beach, but now I’m getting the contents not available message. I too am getting some annoying pop up ads at the top of my screen under the toolbar. Some have an X I can close out, but some don’t.

I think the BBC just doesn’t have the video from today up for viewing–Yet?

What firewall are you using? I’m just using the Windows firewall at the moment with no problems.

Uninstall the Expat Shield and download or install without the toolbar.

Connect to the internet before you open the program.

Use either Firefox with adblock or one of the Chrome clones for your browser. Apparently it doesn’t work well with IE.

Try one of the alternatives that Equibrit posted in one of the Mac threads. There’s a Firefox addon called Stealthy that allows you to use a UK IP.

OK, i downloaded and set up the toolbar, but then I realized I was working in IE. For some reason, a week or so ago I stopped being able to use Flash in IE, no matter how many times I reinstalled/updated… so I need to use Chrome. I’m not sure how to get the toolbar to show up on Chrome. When I hit the “launch” icon on my desktop, it opens IE… So if I have IE open and Expat enabled on there, can I actually use Chrome and still make it work? Or do I need to somehow set it up through Chrome. Really don’t want to download any other software/browsers for this, and hubby is already complaining about the pop ups.
