Who else was there? What fences? Being in warmup all day I was unable to see all but the last two horses…over the last three jumps…so love to live vicariously thru everyone’s else’s descriptions!

I didn’t see much of the 2*.
I saw Boyd go through the 15 ab first out on the 3*…he rode the snot out of it (and did it well). Said to the person with me…that is damn hard given how hard Boyd just had to ride to get it done. I think they removed it relatively early. Saw a couple go through the key hole to the double corners. Looked like it rode quite well.
Then got to the tailgate party…and we all started drinking So watched a few go through the old water. Rode generally ok. Watch a few go through 19, 20, 21 (BIG ass oxer/trak with big drop, very narrow chevron to corner). All did that well that I saw…then we were at the vet box just watched them go through the last water before my boy headed out. Didn’t see much after him.
I was there and saw a fair amount of both the 2* and the 3*. The 3* had some tricky fences in the middle (I think 15?) that they removed from the course because they were getting a LOT of riders (falls, stops, a loose horse, etc.) The weather was good and the footing seemed pretty decent, maybe a little soft in spots but not bad. I shot a LOT while I was there, here’s a few for everyone to live through

The first unknown rider in the sunken road is my trainer, Jennifer Clover and Scimitar II. She was riding her very first CCI** and ended up with some penalties, but completed it, and the parts of it I saw, she looked awesome. Fence 7abc seemed to be very difficult for a lot of the 2* riders but they were foot perfect through it.
Skipollo - thank you again for the photos!!! Seriously you don’t know what it means to me to see photos and videos of them when I’m so far away!!
I heard that the issue with 7 was the crowds - some horses got distracted from the people. 18 was a striding issue and 20 some horses had an issue with not seeing the water till they were jumping basically. I say all of that with the caveat that I was not there and just going off what i heard and read and gathered Those 3 fences I think were the causes of all all of the refusals, E/R/etc…
In the 2*, A lot had trouble with the double brush at 18. You had to come in dead on and forward and then the striding was there…but late in the course and it invited a drive by on the B if your line was off. A lot of horses were out of gas for the last water and the drop in was huge. But riders also had some issues at the foxes (6-7?) and the arena fences as well.
Retread, did I meet you? I was in the warm up for the 3* only, as the apprentice steward. I sawed none of the xc for the 3*. I saw most of the 3* SJ as I had to do the boot checks as they came out.
Lovely photos Skipollo!
They’re not great photos, but here are some of my pictures from the 2* and 3*

Shannon Brinkman. Photos are starting to go up now.
GRC was there too last year, but I don’t think they were there this year.
Can’t find any evidence of a videographer either.
I think Patrick was supposed to be the videographer but couldn’t go for some reason. There definitely was no videographer this year.
Patrick tried to go, but he sent me an email that the vendor fee they requested of him was too high for him to come.
I wish the organizers would have asked the riders/owners how important it was to us to have a videographer at this show!

I think we all need to send in a comment about that. They do such a lovely job with that event but not having it live streamed or at least having videos available to be purchased really is something they should try to make sure is available.
I believe the unknown rider over the table is Eliza Farren and Bantry Bays Dublin.
A cost prohibitive vendor fee for a videographer? Hmm…how much money do they pay Pro for their ‘services’ & endorsements? Most of the riders are probably members of Pro & it makes more sense for them to request more $$ (as any good non profit does) for live streaming services or set a high vendor fee for the videographer; conflicting with the Pro income = no bueno. Some riders won’t care either, as the majority of people who would buy a video are the owners & syndicate members, not the riders, and it’s always easier for you not to care when you aren’t shelling out the cash.

Sorry, it could be lack of coffee, but I’m having difficulty getting your point.
I am also not getting goodmorning’s point either, but it could be not enough coffee.
I don’t know what the vendor fee was, I didn’t ask, but it sounded like Patrick knew from previous experience that he wouldn’t sell enough videos to cover the cost of the vendor fee. The terrain at Fair Hill requires a lot of cameras and operators. He asked (I believe) for a reduction in the vendor fee, from the organizing committee. I don’t know that PRO had anything to do with it. I know Sinead was disappointed that there was no videographer present, we would have loved to get it. I could see so little of the course, and I gladly would have bought the video from the pony’s first CCI 2*. I bet other owners and riders would have liked to be able to weigh in on having a videographer present. I would have been willing to pay a higher fee for the video too, as Patrick’s fee is so reasonable compared to other videographers.
I also am not sure what goodmorning is trying to say. PRO wasn’t doing live stream or anything here, although they did do live stream at Plantation and there was still a videographer there. I think it’s just as Patrick says, that Fair Hill itself requires a vendor fee, and that fee was too high for Patrick to make money off of. PRO probably doesn’t come into it.
