If so, who?
My former 1.40, now 1m adult jumper (Oldenburg) is a great grand son of Seattle Slew…always makes me chuckle a bit as he is US bred and not the fanciest pedigree lol
Tiara is a daughter of ArdCeltic Art (very successful Connemara Eventer)
Belle is a grand-daughter of Grange Finn Sparrow (very successful Connemara, jumper, competing against full sized horses, ridden by, among others, deLeyer)
I have TBs so lots of “famous” bloodlines - does that count?
My late AA hunter’s sire was Rio Grande. Bought her as a long yearling as a jumper prospect but that wasn’t her jam. Her markings were a replica of her sire. The OTTB I have now is a great grandson of Seattle Slew and , like so many others, looks just like him.
My old retired TB broodmare has both Raise A Native and Damascus on her papers.
My 23-year-old TB has Bold Ruler, Damascus, and Native Dancer in his pedigree (as do MANY other TBs).
My late Canadian Sporthorse was half TB and had lots of Bold Ruler and Northern Dancer linebred all throughout his dam’s side. Like, a LOT. At what point does a TB pass the ‘linebred’ status and enter ‘inbred’ territory?
My new DWB filly has Alme Z on her sire’s side, and her dam’s side has Samber x Olympic Ferro along with a TB line that has amazingly no famous horses except for Nijinsky 5 generations back.
Continuing Janet’s theme -
I have a son of Hideaway’s Erin Go Bragh (very successful Connemara eventer)
I had a grandson of Citation (via his “best” son, Sky Clipper) years ago
If I were to choose a “famous” horse as a fantasy sire right now, it would be American Pharaoh - handsome, beautiful movement and a great brain!
I’ll have to look up my CouldaBeenAContender TB (never raced, but ponied fir 4yrs). Sire was Winds (or Wings?) of Winter, an IL horse.**
My only registered horses are:
*My TWH Cash’s Bay Threat, who had Coin’s Hard Cash & Triple Threat on his papers, plus back to Midnight Sun on both sides.
*My Australian Warmblood, Jaybee Altair, bred by Jaybee Farms, sire: Aachimedes, dam a palomino stockhirse who also competed Dressage: Lawes Dublin.
*My Hackney Pony, bred by local/regional BNT, registered as Fox’s Brownberry, sired by Heartland Prime Minister, dam Firethorn’s June Song.
Never bothered transferring registration to my name on any of them.
Because: geldings
Plus I have zero interest in breed shows.
**It was Winds, going back to the only names I recognized: Princequillo & Nasrullah
I had a quarter horse mare that I got out of a feedlot whose ancestors were cutting horse royalty. Her grandsire was featured in one of the “Legends” books.
Me too, and yes, they certainly DO count!
Okay, since some are talking TBs, I have a son of Giant’s Causeway and a son of Bernardini. I consider them “famous”.
Ooh, mine! Mine! My first competition horse. Along with many, many others.
My current show horse is by Bliss MF, so great pedigree to include Baloubet du Rouet, 2004 Olympic gold medalist and Argentinus, 2005 Hanoverian stallion of the year
My retired guy is by Don Alfredo with Don Juan, 1997 stallion of the year in Germany, and Abglanz, a Trakhener foundation sire.
I also had a Selle Francais mare by Ilian de Taut who is in turn by one of the leading SF stallions and French team international show jumper, Narcos II.
My current OTTB is by Wiseman’s Ferry, from the same foal crop as 2 time HOY Wise Dan. There are also several of the usual TBs - Storm Cat, Secretariat, Bold Ruler, even Tom Fool shows up within the first 5 generations
My daughter’s newish, young horse is by Cornet Obolensky out of a Ramiro Z mare.
I had an Anglo-Irish-French gelding by Ilian de Taute. His registered name was Premier de Kegan, but he was called Chief.
My Jr Hunter was a Count Fleet Granddaughter
I wonder how many of us are connected via our horses’ bloodlines. Hmmm.
