Fasig Tipton November Sale Live Now

^ Make Music For Me was NOT part of the recent auction in SoCal. The Hemet auction group that was advertised as a dispersal of EF-1 farms was entirely made up of broodmares and young horses. Most mares were in foal, but some were open, there were several weanlings, and a few yearlings. All sold… but to local people, some good samaritans, and 11 went to two rescue groups… including 7 mares who were in foal, and being sold at a very vulnerable price point. It seems like the two rescue groups are well known in the area and have good reputations. Horses were reportedly shipped on Monday and Tuesday to their new homes.

Oddly enough, someone who picked up a mare yesterday reported that EF-1 Farms managed to retain 30 horses, and the prior owner of EF-1 is now renting this farm, formerly known as Brazeau Thoroughbreds. Maybe that report is an error or misunderstanding of some kind on the part of the person who shared it though.

Well, here’s how today went. Drive 9 hours to come to sale, go to see mare, she looks wonderful, make arrangements with a farm here in KY, to have her foal out with them, and then bred back to covering sire on a no guarantee season, wait patiently through the sale, not bidding on some really good broodmares that are selling inexpensively, only to have the mare owner pull her out, after the sale had started. I am not happy, to put it nicely.

Oh, I’m sorry. That is unfortunate, to say the least… Were you able to contact the owner to express your interest in the mare?

I spoke with farm manager. One of my trainers knows the owner, and his grandson personally, so he was going to contact them. We’re talking major farm/owner, here.

Major or minor, they may still entertain an offer for the mare.

I just went through the photos of Lady A, and her feet appear awful…

We did buy a weanling colt by Flat Out, so not a completely wasted trip. Hopefully he will arrive next week.

Congratulations! I’ve seen some very nice Flat Out offspring. What are you going to do with your colt?

We actually bought him as a buddy for our Fort Larned weanling. He will eventually be a racehorse for us.

I think this son of Flatter is very handsome and was a very good racehorse (I am not in any manner involved with the horse). I’m curious about the opinion of race breeders on the forum. What do you think? He is obviously not proven only having weaners on the ground.

15 starts in 3 seasons? Fast but not very sound.

A friend of mine whose expertise I respect loves this stallion as a prospect. He told me that he didn’t have the right mare for him so he had to reluctantly pass. But being managed by Airdrie is a definite plus. They know what they are doing.

Love me some Upstart !!:yes:

And he is a very affordable option for many

I love his expression. Thanks for the picture!

He looks great. Congratulations!

Too funny, small world. Muffin Top was bought by one of my best friends for another friend Mike Gentry as a broodmare prospect when she finished racing. If Mike still owns her and is the breeder. Doesn’t surprise me. Good horsemen.

He is the breeder of this colt. Very small world, isn’t it! If you’re ever speaking with him, let him know that Topper has made his way to Southern Ontario, Canada.
