Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale

Has started with quite a quality line-up… Rushing Fall, Monomy Girl, Midnight Bisou and Uni.

November 8 will be a sale date to watch.

Already people are yapping that Mandy Pope needs to buy all of these mares. Like she’s running a multi-million dollar petting zoo or something.

Not F-T but Keeneland November. Voodoo Song (by English Channel out of Mystic Chant) recently retired will be offered. Voodoo Song is graded stakes placed on turf.

In the original article announcing Voodoo Song’s retirement from racing, stated that stud plans are in development. Won or placed in seven black-type stakes on turf. Wonder if the next stop might be off-shore.

Who are these people? The November catalog isn’t out yet.

I don’t see Keeneland’s November sale catalog out either.

Both breeding stock sales are fun to watch. There are usually some famous race mares included, as well as some nice weaners.

Oh, it’s the usual comments in Paulick or on FB. As soon as it’s published that one of these high profile racemares is entered in FT or Keeneland, there’s a storm of fuss made that “oh no, they might go to Japan” along with fervent hope that Whisper Hill will pay many millions to “save” them from such a fate.

Of course Ms. Pope does have a history of buying marquee mares…which I am sure is what’s raising everyone’s hopes.

I see. I’m not on Facebook so I don’t see the comments. I guess it’s not surprising after the “Chromie” phenomenon. Still, the Japanese have been buying expensive American bloodstock for years, it’s nothing new. I’m sure Ms. Pope is more interested in some bloodlines than others so she won’t be buying them all.

Japan isn’t the ‘death sentence’ it may have been in the past. I’d think there are potentially worse countries a stallion or mare could end up in. If there is a nice mare, Japan may buy out of the sale as well as the next person (well, not this person )

Mandy, yes, does like the nicely bred and raced mare but she isn’t in the business of ‘rescuing’ mares she isn’t interested in either

I know you know this!

Quick correction and I am guessing temporary forgetfulness on your part - Bast did win the G2 Santa Ynez this year. Though it was on Jan 5th, so strictly speaking you stand a good chance of still being correct in your statement.

Hummm… I stole (perhaps) incorrectly the info from the BH article :o

These facts I don’t normally fact check

Ahhh. I read BH, Paulick, and TDN, but have noticed that BH’s online content editors can be a little sloppy sometimes.

@Mara

This I would agree with. I usually hit BH first but often follow with PR as I find PR can have a more complete article. But, BH has better photos

Midnight Bisou has been retired from racing, however she will still be heading to the sale… “she will be sold with Elite Sales at The November Sale Nov. 8 at Fasig-Tipton.”

Not surprised that she is heading to F-T Select in November. Between F-T and Keeneland, some nice mares going through the ring. Wonder how much Mandy Pope and Bobby Flay will have their respective checkbooks out.

Sad to see her being retired but very happy she was sent to R&R for evaluation and caught the sesamoid before it became a much larger problem.

Expo Gold, dam of Swiss Skydiver, in foal to Catholic Boy will be offered at Keeneland November. Catholic Boy is a multiple G1 winner, both turf and dirt. 2020 was his first year at stud at a fee of $25,000.

Swiss Skydiver’s sire, Daredevil was sold to Turkey along with Super Saver late last year.

Maybe an interesting bargain to be had?

She’s a Julie retired and on her way to Fasig-Tipton November.

Valiance, winner of the Spinster (G1) this last weekend off to Fasig-Tipton November.

The catalog for the Keeneland November sale is now available online.
