I bought a new horse this summer so have purchased a bunch of new blankets for him, all Horseware. An Amigo Bravo sheet, Rambo 100 gram, Amigo 100 gram Wug, Amigo Bravo medium. All have been waterproof. I got the same Rambo 100 gram for another horse and it’s also fine. So maybe it’s just the supreme fabric?

Hopefully it is just the 1680 fabric. And the Autumn Series fabric. Adams told me Monday they are inundated with calls right now on the waterproof issue. I reached out to Jeffers same day and they have not gotten back to me. I must have multiple waterproof blankets so in quite a quandry in this moment and had to order another and because I’m so familiar w Rambo and they fit my guys so well and have so valued the quality in the past. So I ordered an Original.

Found this news article today. Interesting. 60% increase in profits? What I’ve seen in lighter hardware, thinner straps etc tells me cost cutting in materials.

Ugh. Today it was 32 with a brisk wind. Frigging cold. Bring in my old guy-who is known to run hot-BUT-that wind is cold! And he’s sweating under his blankets. Chest and shoulders. Sigh…

His biggest exertion is walking to the hay pile.

Tomorrow we will try a different set of blankets. I’ve had him for 16 years. You would think I would have it figured out by now (slaps forehead)!

Not sure what you have him in now, but this would be a good day for a 100g if I was blanketing my retired mare. She’s probably naked today (not much wind, high in the mid 30s) but was in a 250g medium last night (low in lower 20s, windy.) She’s outside 24/7, is 25 years old, and an easy keeper.

(Side note: last night was one of the rare times where I had to take her back to her paddock and blanket her when it was dark. I only had a cell phone for light, not the best with a spunky old girl who reallyreally wanted to get to her hay. Today we had a Yankee Swap at work, and I got a powerful head lamp and a hanging utility light!)

Yeah, we switched him to his 100gms. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 50 degrees. Come on Mother Nature-make up your mind!!!

I use my 100g blankets from the upper 20s through the mid 40s (dry weather).

I don’t purposely blanket in the 40s unless it is windy/rainy, but there are a lot of days this time of year where it is in the 20s overnight but the daytime temps get up into the 40s. I leave the house at 6am for work. I hate ripping their blankets off at the coldest point of the day when there are still hours before it starts warming up. I’ve found my herd doesn’t overheat in their 100g blankets even if it’s 40s and sunny, so I just let them be. This time of year, the daily high temperatures are for such a brief period of time.

My new Original with Leg Arches is not waterproof, nor are the two Supreme 1680s, nor the Autumn Series. I’ve got a PSSM2 horse that is not stalled and stands out in the rain at times.

Who has ordered a Rambo or Rhino this fall and can confirm it’s waterproof? I’d really appreciate hearing. I cannot bring myself to order another Rambo right now given I believe it will take time to get their mess straightened out.

Plan to order a Bow Horse based on this thread and Premier out of the UK. And reluctant but drawn to try the Rhino Wug or Amigo XL but do we KNOW the new ones are waterproof?

I still have not heard back from Adams or Jeffers on the 4 blankets I’ve ordered this fall. I must have multiple waterproof blankets

I’ll come back to tout the wonderfulness of Premier Equine blankets again. I love every single one I’ve had, they fit my TBs and WBs well and also fit a friend’s tanky Morgan well. Sizes are generous. They hold up to my field of frat boys who play hard, and I have yet to have one leak even after the horses were out in days of record breaking rain without changing blankets. Thank you for this review and I’d like to order. My guy is 14.3 and built like a war horse. In a Rambo he wears a 75. Can you share your sizing experience please? It appears they would have me order much smaller.

They definitely run large. I typically order the same size as in other blankets, but on some horses that does end up running a bit large but I’ve not had them run so large as to be a problem. It hasn’t been my experience that I would need to order much smaller than their usual blankets. The horses I usually have in 80/81 wear a 6’9", 78s 6’6", 75s 6’3".

Thank you. One more question. How quickly do they tend to arrive? I’m ordering the Titan 100g w snug neck as my test run. I figure with all the blanket brands you’ve ordered and experienced you definitely qualify as a Consumer Reports level blanketeer!

I’ve found their shipping to be exceptionally fast. I’m in California and I think every order has arrived within a week of ordering. It’s a running joke between some friends and I that my international blanket orders sometimes arrive before a domestic order I’d placed a week earlier.

And LOL! I try!! I definitely like to outfit my horses in wardrobes but also feel super strongly that they need to hold up well, and there is nothing that upsets me more than coming out to find my horses wet and shivering under their $$$ blankets.

I hope I love it as much too! I’ll post back when I receive and post a review. Oh yeah, I’m pretty irritated over here. We just had drenching rain overnight so pulled the brand new Rambos this morning which were drying under fans in my heated tack room since early am. . Put on dry ones that I just pulled and now drying. Tomorrow we get snow and drop to 20.

At least I can go to an old 200 gram Rambo and Tough One that I know will hold up to the wetness.

I ordered a Rambo Duo this fall - the 100 gram blanket with the 300 gram liner - and it is waterproof. I actually ordered two, but the one for my other horse is still sitting in the bag. I supposed I should get it out and try it out.

SmartPak also has some of the Premier blankets, but they are mostly getting shipped directly from the UK. In Big Blanket Order #1 for Lola, from SmartPak, the Premier Equine blankets arrived directly from the UK, 3 days before the rest of the order. I am not sure about how prices compare.

I pretty much always only buy them on sale, so got the Duo for $400. If you got your blankets on sale, I would try to convince the retailer to give you the same discount on your exchange.

FWIW I’ve been happy with my Pessoa that I ordered this year. Adams was having a sale, I got it for around $100.
I ordered a Rhino Wug last year, in the new color for the year, knock wood it’s held up just fine. I washed it in Nikwax this past summer and air-dried it.

Really good to know on both. It seemed from the thread upstream that the Rhino Wugs are tighter in the shoulders than the Rambos? I’ll try a Pessoa too. $100 seems like someone is giving it to me!
