Favorite 100g Turnout Blanket - 2022 edition

Hola fellow blanket obsessed friends!

When life gets hard, I buy horse blankets.

The growing baby has given me a chance to trial bargain brands because I’m darn sure not buying her good stuff to fit for a single season.

New 100g alert! Turner Equestrian from the UK, $75 on Amazon:

No frills, but I like how it fits. 600 denier, waterproofing yet to be tested. I don’t love the front buckles and that it has sewn on leg straps instead of doubled ended snap ones, but I think it’s very clever how the size and weight are printed on the outside of the blanket.

I have a few other recent purchases to share in another post.

Same! Why do they make me so happy?? I don’t understand myself, but I enjoy cozying my boys up in fresh blankets each year :grinning:

I did buy the Rambo Duo again for the 6 yr old only because it was “a good deal”. I’m hoping it holds up okay. My Schneiders from last winter are all freshly laundered and ready to go too.
Tis the season!!

Has anyone tried this blanket? I’m thinking about getting a 100g layer for my horses, but I would have to buy 6 of them so I don’t want to spend a fortune. One of mine gets rubs from his Rambo blankets, so I was thinking to try another brand.

That’s a nice looking layer, but not meant to be used as a sole turnout blanket. You’d need to put a turnout sheet over it.

But… for everyone, what’s available in 100g turnouts without a high neck? The Rhino high neck just doesn’t quite work for Feronia. As you can see, the high neck slides back and is very tight around her neck. Regular Rhinos fit her fine. She’s a size 75.

We are about to have a few nights in the low 20s, so she’ll have to wear her medium.

All of the Horseware lines have a 100g option in a regular neck, including Rhino.

Just about every maker has a 100 gram now, most without a high neck.

This is great to know! The Wug just doesn’t fit but her other blankets are all Rhinos.

Got a 100g Rhino Plus for Miss F, and it fits just like her rainsheet and medium. I’m satisfied! Next step is try to sell the Wug.
