There are no doubt lots of wannabes out there who have delusional rationalizations for why they bombed at some show -but they are not famous on CoTh :dead:
The only reason this joker is somehow significant is because Coth has made him significant.
CoTH members/followers may have helped get the word out but he has crossed the line when he starts accusing the judges of corrupt practices. He isnât just spouting his self-generated praises; he is effectively accusing the USDF of certifying incompetent and corrupt judges.
If you do something at a show I think more things can happen to you, but I donât know about just general on the internet spouting things off. If that were the case I think a LOT of people would be in trouble. There are threads here even talking about the âpoor judgingâ theyâve received.
We are not the only forum in the world. This guy has been the talk on lots of forums. COTH did not make him anything. COTH (and the other forums) helped prevent him from [edit] people.
Actually, this guy was a nobody trumpeting himself all over the place as the best of the somebodies. Coth just called him out on it, proved his lies were lies and then he started threatening people. But yeah, I guess if you want to think heâs not doing the sport and horses any harm, well, thatâs your opinion.
And seriously, I really wish someone had called out one of my past âtrainersâ who talked a good game but knew jack all about dressage. I spent $$$$ and years with her while not being able to consistently pull a 60 at training level. But hey, I was a newbie and she supposedly trained with Olympians so the problem must be me & my horse. Turns out, she was a groom for said Olympian for a summer but youâd never guess that seeing her resume. Sham instructors SHOULD be exposed for the cheats they are.
I think he has taken it a tad too far now stating judges are corrupt. You are being judged on your ride and NOT compared to others. Who are these back door folks talking to said judge? It never happened! He is delusional.
I have done many educate your eye clinics. My scores were very similar to the judge hosting the clinic. So will say this photos donât lie. He had zero self-carriage or contact in his photos. Likely had no bend as his horse was often above the bit and star gazing.
Thatâs not even how classes are scored in other disciplines. You as a rider donât always know that the judge in your Hunter trip is scoring you a 65 or a 70 or a 55, because theyâre writing it on a score card you never see, but IME most judges use that system. And itâs against an ideal of what the round should look like in a perfect world, not that the best rider in the class is going to be a 100. The class still ends up pinned 70, 65, 55, just like dressage, youâre just not seeing a numeric score (unless itâs a classic and the score is announced).
Sure, placings are going to vary based on how everyone else scores, but barring something seriously weird, consistently getting similar scores, across multiple judges, that tells you something. Yeah, Iâve had a few comments on tests where Iâm like âbut the judge last week said the opposite!â, but overall, the scores have been within a 2-3% range all year, so I know weâre on track.
Thatâs where Dressage does vary from other disciplines, itâs not about the fact that a 62% is 2nd one week and 6th the next, itâs that youâve got what is obviously consistency in scoring on the same test from judges from one week to the next, and rewards/achievements being based on that percentage, not on placings. Whereas with something like Hunters, youâve got multiple, different courses every show and so many opportunities to mess things up with a late change or a swap in a line or a chip that all in and of themselves can majorly drop your score on any given course, that an average for the year of numerical scores would be worthless, though itâs useful in sorting individual classes.
Failure to understand how scoring works doesnât mean itâs a conspiracy, it just means that thereâs a learning opportunity that can either be taken or ignored. I have a feeling a lot of the âbreed bias!â âcolor bias!â etc comments across multiple disciplines come out of a failure to understand how judges judge.
Iâm still astonished by the elaborate yarn heâs woven to justify the (deservedly) low scores he received. I shouldnât be, I know, as NP has a long history of dreaming up ridiculous and improbable defenses of his actions.
He actually thinks people will buy this fabrication??? Color me incredulous. . . .
I wouldnât care much about this guy except heâs just around the corner from me. One of my casual friends just Facebook friended him - obviously she doesnât know about him. He just hits too close to home.
I will simply comment that I am disappointed in the judge commenting on Facebook about âthe worst rideâ That is an easy trace back and very unseemly. It may well have been ( though he never judged me ) but he should have had a little decorum.
I gather that heâs of interest to an international forum because he is marketing himself across the US as a clinician plus has gone toxic on social media before. I could point you to any number of delusional, incompetent, backyard dressage coaches from my neighborhood but no one would care since they have such limited range.
I forgot about the Charlotte attack! Googled it just to remind myselfâŠ
âNick Peronace Dressage (facebook) is saying this about Charlotte: " We have riders in this country [USA] that ride like Charlotte and her garbage short rein, high arms, and over exaggerated style and they receive these medals.â âI have seen her [Charlotte] ride other horses and she is garbage on everything. Iâve watched her clinics on video. The advice she gives is so basic and simple yet everyone is like mystified by it. Its ridiculous! just feel like shaking people are hitting them or something. Itâs so frustrating because she rides like crap and yet the advice she gives can be found in any half decent dressage book, written by any mediocre equestrian. Itâs unbelievable the response that she gets! Oh and her arrogance at these clinics like as if God Himself is in the arena. Thereâs a clip somewhere where sheâs giving a demo and the announcer comes on and says your time is up in two minutes. She mouths off at him and deliberately throws off the entire show schedule because sheâs having a good time riding a horse. And of course everyone in the stands is laughing and condoning her rude terrible behavior. Like I said itâs like everyoneâs under a spell or something.
Sheâs lucky, because if I competed and if I was one of those competitors, Iâd have gladly gotten her out of that ring myself, and done it with a smile!â"
I have seen many threads questioning judging when it doesnât match what you expected. In fact I started one just a few weeks ago when a friend showed my horse and the judgeâs scores seemed out of line with what several knowledgable people expected them to be. Difference between my post / other similar ones and NPâs?
Didnât accuse the judge of any bias, wrongdoing, lack of knowledge or just being a âbad judgeâ
Didnât accuse the entire dressage world of conspiring to give my horse low scores
Willingly and honestly admit the areas where my horse (and I) need to improve
Publicly post a video for more knowledgable people to asses / critique
Ask more knowledgeable people for their insight as to what the judge saw that I didnât
Use those insights and the judgeâs comments as a way to help improve next time
You are entitled to your opinion, of course, and others are entitled to disagree with it. I think weâve covered both sides of that discussion thoroughly.
