So, reading this–to people who are new to a sport, if someone is lying about riding with a certain coach, and that coach calls out that person, that’s a BIG heads up to the credibility of said alleged horse person.
May I say to Mr Dover, I am sorry. I wish people would be more professional and in general, kind human beings. Your riding and skill speaks for itself.

Some very nice photos, but showing a tense horse. I would be proud of having such a lovely horse and be eager to improve my ride and scores
Note that Nick cannot refute screenshots… so he ignores them.
That’s my opinion, thus it is not bullying, as per Nick’s clarification earlier…
Everything these people are sharing is a lie or one sided. What you should be asking yourself is why are they so obsessed! Here is a link.

Excellent idea:
I’m so happy to hear you want to speak up against hate! You can start right here on COTH!

PERFECT!! Now, I know that there is a broad scope of differences between states and provinces, but we all have governing equestrian bodies that we can find, to sort of give you a start. Also, these message boards can help too–especially if you live in a very small area where it’s hard to find coaching/the right barn.
no sure why its so important for you to start again with personal attacks… Hope it really makes you feel good!!
I think I am going to report you and some others this time!! I really had enough of this…
That’s a good start, BigMama1. I would always advise people to go and watch your prospective trainer coach at a show. It’s valuable to watch how they coach, how their students respond and act, etc.
One sided screenshots as part of a hate campaign.
I will totally admit that I have said some really mean and nasty things to people, but what did they say first?
There seems to be an underlying issue here with all of these post. That being that you people fedl entitled to attack, slander and harass me while Im not allowed to defend myself. When I do it’s “oh look Nick is unhinged” and you post screen shots of my reaction to YOUR comment.
Anyone interested in the truth needs to read this:

What eveidence do you have that the judge was corrupt? In fact what evidence do you have that you were scored unfairly? There is video from your Third Level test at that show which supports the score you were given.
Did you file a complaint with the tournament director or fill out a judging report? Because that is the appropriate way to deal with truly corrupt / unethical / inappropriate judging. Thankfully they rarely exists in rated shows thanks to the judge certification program and the high quality of licensed officials.
Your comments about “politics” were nonsensical and served only to demonstrate that you don’t understand how dressage is judged. Riders aren’t judged against each other: a 6 at any given level is a 6, period. Now what would be a 6 at Training Level is likely a 4 at best in Third Level, because much more is required of the horse as you move up. That’s why your sweet mare, despite her many good characteristics, is scoring only in the 40s, because your rides do not meet any of these basic requirements. That is not the judge’s fault.
For the most part judges really do want to hand out good scores and they are rooting for riders to do well. And most have no bias against particular breeds - any horse correctly performing the test to the standard of the level will receive a good score. Will a better moving horse receive a better score? All other things being equal, yes.
A 9 mover is going to start with 9s, and lose points from there for inaccurate figures, lack of rhythm, errors, lack of appropriate collection or engagement, etc. so may end up at a 6 or 7. A 7 mover is only going to start at a 7, so needs to perform the test accurately, appropriately for the level and error free to keep marks in the 6-7 range. Again, nothing to do with bias or corruption from the judge. They don’t score based on what a horse (or rider) could or should do, but rather on what the horse IS doing in front of them at that moment in time.
Low scores and uncomfortable truths from a judge aren’t easy to swallow but they are valuable learning tools. It sounds like this isn’t your first experience being told you aren’t ready for the level at which you are competing. You’ve previously said the one time you tried to show Chevy GP at a schooling show the judge was “mean” and discouraging. I suspect the judge was honest and told you that you and Chevy were nowhere near being able to perform at the GP level.
Instead of getting discouraged, you should at that point have gotten help from a professional trainer who could have taken the skills you learned yourself and helped you develop them to the point where you could have success in the show ring.
Showing isn’t the goal of dressage but it is a great reality check to confirm if you are making progress and training / riding your horse correctly. It is also one of the few objective ways in which you can confirm your skills and accomplishments to potential clients and / or naysayers.
Calling highly respected judges corrupt because they accurately judged your test to be insufficient (as backed up by photos and video) doesn’t reflect badly on the judge in any way. It only reflects badly on you, Nick.
Those are great suggestions!
For me, a show record is usually the starting point when researching a new trainer/barn, although it’s not the most important criteria. While there are some great trainers out there without easily searchable results due to the length of their careers, it quickly weeds out the embellishers. Ideally, I want to see a show record with horses that spans multiple years, and shows at least one horse clearly progressing up the levels.
I personally try to hunt out the quiet barns who have less of a web presence - that’s probably my own personal biases, but I feel like hey, if you’re not always advertising for students, the students you have must be pretty happy, right?
Once I find a barn that seems like a good fit, I set up a lesson/tour, and also try to watch a few other lessons if I can. I want to make sure that (1) the trainer meshes well with me in how they explain things, and (2) they have enough tools in their toolbox to address the shortcomings of each horse and rider. I want to see someone who is engaged with their lessons, and doesn’t just teach the same lesson to every student - and that the students all seem to have different challenges, rather than all having the same weakness/issue, which might suggest a gap in knowledge in the trainer’s program.
So I thought I would go through each post and encourage people to send me their questions. Yeah…need to stop. Why? Because as the pages go on and Im reading all of your post, it’s getting scarier and scarier, sicker and sicker. There is something seriously wrong with you people. It’s gone beyond believing your own lies and believing misinformation. You people are twisted and demented individuals and I’m just going to leave it at that.
If there was ever evidence of a conspiracy, or evidence of a hate campaign, it’s found right here on this thread.
Very good points! If you plan to show, you want a coach with a strong show record—though I do suggest to riders to not always expect a current show record—speaking for myself, I’ve been caring for my elderly mother the past 4 yrs, and her health needs have affected my ability to show. So, again, I would definitely look at show results, but there are always circumstances that might prevent a good coach from showing (also injury to the body, having family etc can halt showing for coaches for a spell)
Man I hope this thread is winding down because I need to get off the internet and get something done!
Finding a good trainer can be very difficult. You can get sucked into a bad situation pretty fast, and your horse will be the one that suffers. Yeah, been there, done that, learned an expensive lesson.
Then refute the “lies” and correct the “misinformation.” Don’t just keep referring people to the same blog posts which explain nothing and answer no questions. There is no conspiracy or hate here - just a bunch of people who love the sport of dressage and who have serious concerns about a guy who claims to be a professional (yet tried to compete as an amateur), and who offers his services as a trainer, instructor and judge, but who refuses to provide any evidence that he has the skills to do so.
If you really are Nick Peronace, then learn to ride properly and conduct yourself with dignity, kindness and consideration for your fellow human beings. If you do that, it will end this barrage of criticism.
I think it’s telling that Nick went through the old posts rather than engaging with any of the recent discussion (from around page 13 onwards). Not that I expected much, after 30+ replies with little more information than an email address.
