Unbranded (2015) was fantastic. I wish there was a history of horse racing in America or a 30 for 30 on Santa Anita. Maybe there is, but I don’t know of one.
And what story do you think should be told but hasn’t?

I agree on “Unbranded”. I loved it.
Another that I really enjoyed is “Down the Fence”, about reined cowhorse competitions.
I enjoy horse documentaries. When they take a great story then turn it into a movie based on a true story it usually ends up to be so dumb.
Buck. Unbranded and Down the Fence were okay.
Wild Horse, Wild Ride is a great one about the mustang challenge.
This is very short but so enjoyable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUL2D6yoqrU and there is an hour long docu on him but in French. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZhFmrP7qKw
My husband is non-horsey, and he has loaned my DVD to other non-horsey people to watch.
Also, Dark Horse is a good one.
I really liked Buck.
I really liked both Buck and Wild Horse Wild Ride.
I loved Harry and Snowman
Wild Horse Redemption. It was the documentary that the movie drama, “Mustang”, was based on. It’s better than the movie as it shows real training clips and real people (prisoners) working through issues with their horses and themselves. Highly recommended!
I have always loved & can watch & rewatch National Geographic’s Ballad of the Irish Horse :love-struck:
@Bluey I have watched with interest other episodes of Nature’s Giants, but somehow the horse was upsetting.
This, even though I “assisted” (held bags of Ringer’s) at my TB’s colic surgery.
@PaddockWood Thanks for the short clip,
I am not ashamed to tell you it made me tear up.
In my own small way, I live with my own herd of 3 as close to that as I can,
No bareback Roman Riding , but a lot of closeness & just hanging out.
Oh, I love that you teared up and you live with your herd like that. I found Francois Pignon after
first finding Frederic (his brother) and wife Magali and they founded Cavalia if you remember that.
My bucket list included the incredible opportunity to go spend a week with them and I’ll never, ever
be the same. Not only did it open my eyes to what is possible and the relationship possible but also
forever I will always now ask if my horse is happy.
I teared up knowing you teared up.
Small World.
I saw a performance of Cavalia many years ago at Brooklyn’s BAM.
Horses were A-Mazing!
Sadly, the choice of music was Korean 😣
Dissonant is too kind…
Yeah, that wouldn’t work. We saw Cavalia in DC (flew there to see it - I knew from pictures I had to make that happen) and then got their book and was blown away.
From there over the years kept pounding the web for articles and video and BAM ran into a woman from Australia forming a trip to go spend a week with them. 12 hrs a day. 22 stallions. It was the best week of my life. They are incredible people.
Loved Dark Horse. The combined story of a small, struggling Welsh town rallying behind a most unlikely racehorse really struck a chord with me.
“The story of Sergeant Reckless”, the Korean War Horse.
I just bawled my eyes out watching Dark Horse. Endearing and triumphant. It was a good cry.
we went to one of the pre-release showings of Unbranded they had one of the horses used on stage with them then afterwards setup in a portable corral where you could get up close. My youngest daughter had gone to school with those guys at A&M College Station
Ballad of the Irish Horse is lovely. I’ve got Dark Horse and/or Dream Horse on my list to watch now.
