There’s a stallion in NJ named Hey Chub, and I always get a giggle out of his foals’ names. There’s Chublicious, Chubblemaker, Chubby Who Who, Bubba Chub and one who I really wanted to check out at an auction: Chubby Chub Chub. I don’t think he ever started, but that name!
Ginger Punch
Runhappy
Flat Out
I like a lot of the one word Claiborne names. Lure is probably my favorite.
I always thought Dynaformer was a cool name. And Seeking The Gold.
More Phipps names - Relaxing and Cadillacing, Dispute and Inside Information.
Many years ago there was an Alydar stallion standing somewhere in the midwest (I think) named Heff. I always wondered if he’d been studdish as a youngster.
Always loved the names Sunday Silence and Lemon Drop Kid. And then there was Arrrrr!
Saw World War Juan was buried at KY Horse Park —worst name I ever saw was in a show magazine that listed name changes on (I recall) Eventing Hoses --horse had a perfectly respectable horse name that was changed to Pot Roast. Poor horse.
Groomed a mare named Gracious Sakes. She was a little chestnut trotting bred mare. Loved her name. We grooms called her Gracie.
I love my OTTB’s JC name: Queen of Secrets. She is a daughter of Kittens Joy, and I struggled about finding a show name that included Kitten in it, but in the end, I decided I really like her JC name and am keeping it. Her barn name is Secret.
I almost spit my food out laughing at this! Ninny Poon Dammer  Somebody HAS to use that name at some point!!
We had a Hey Chub baby at my work. His name is Double Chubble which is one of my favorite names (he’s actually back after injuring himself I believe…raced once this past February and won). The owners got him for a fairly good deal as he had messed up legs as a baby. We backed him and I rode him as a 2 year old. Goofball tried to buck me off in the shedrow one day and ended up falling over with us both  But he turned out to be a pretty cool dude! Seems to me we had Brother Chub at our farm as well at one point…never rode him though.
@bingbingbing we just had a Lemon Drop Kid offspring also! Funny you mention him cause I looooved her name, and she’s a super cool mare, Lemon Drop Kitty.
Not a name I actually like but two years ago we had a mare named Happiest Ending
There are so many names but Peter G. Fox was always one of my favorites. Rumfire was another one…his name seems fitting somehow. He could buck the entire way around the track, and I’ve heard has bucked his exercise riders off at the racetrack as well.
Another great name that always makes me laugh: Idiot Proof
I have always liked the names with some dignity in them, like Majestic Prince. American Pharoah was a great name, though misspelled.
I thought Genuine Risk was a great name on two counts. It isn’t silly or undignified, one point, but also, it is an accurate statement of the horse business, two points.
And I must admit, while I do prefer dignified names, I have to smile on seeing the multitudinous litters of Kittens around. I even won a fairly large payout (for me) on the undercard betting on one one year when I was at Oaklawn in April, simply because of the Kitten name. That one was High-Priced Kitten or High-Dollar Kitten or something like that.
My gelding’s full sister is Moonshine Mistress, which I thought was a great name for a WV-bred! His name is Pirate Captain which at least isn’t a terrible show name…and the announcers always try to be clever with Pirate jokes
I also have Pop Tarrt…who was a pretty decent racehorse in spite of having a name that leads everyone to think he is a little fat pony. I thought the name was cute, so we kept it…can’t imagine how he got it in the first place…
I will add one of my own horse’s names here, because it was one I was very pleased with. Sired by Seeker’s Journey, out of Strike One. “Seek N Strike”. Named after the guided missile. He was well named.
While I’m not so much a fan of the “run-on” name trend, one of my favorite names has to be Shutupndeal. Foaled in 1998, 17 starts.
The Munnings filly, Not A Kitten was an amusing response to the ubiquitous Kittens.
There was one racing yesterday called Heart Full of Stars. My favorite name of the week!
There’s a Liam’s Map colt currently racing who’s named Buyer’s Remorse.
And a filly whose owner bought her back at a sale named Plan B.
That’s a good name.
I like Plan B. Very clever.
Buyer’s Remorse seems a little mean. I hope the colt becomes a world beater.
Effinex
So many good names but that’s one – I LOVE that it got past the JC!
Love the Hey Chub offspring names. There’s a stallion in WV named Gattopardo and some of his kids have cool names – Gattolottasparkle (just grand champion at the WVTBA show), Gattolottacharm, Gatto Love Karma…
A couple from the past – I loved Poquito Picante, by Sauce Boat. I think I saw her at a Timonium sale.
And when I was in vet school, enjoying my first pathology course, there was a filly named Infarction. Truly a name only a doc could love!
