As for the very few who have come on this board in defense of these two individuals it is always quite obvious to all that they are related or truly have not read the thread or the public federal court documents. If you read the court documents then I doubt you would defend them publicly. But that is your God given choice and you have a right to do so. However, each time someone does so then I feel I have the right to post more of the records that are now available to everyone. You can get them by calling the court in Richmond or access them on line through Westlaw. Everything I post can be verified and there are many things in those documents I do not think your friends want to be continually made public. But since you force my hand then I will do so.
First, I have never met Ms. Berlin but I wish her the best in her horse showing endeavors and she obviously loves her son.
As for your statement “I do not understand and would really be amazed that none of you would show your face at the shows to confront them.” It has been ordered by their probation officer, an official representative of the Dept of Justice, that they are to have NO contact what so ever with any of the victims. And I took this to mean we should have no contact with them either. You would know this if you had been keeping up with this thread or the court orders…which obviously you have not.
As for getting old now…I also just received two mailings from the Dept of Justice regarding this case and upon checking the postmarks they are recent.
Since you posed some interesting questions to “TWF” perhaps I can share a few excerpts from some of the United States documents. This is what is in the official Dept of Justice Indictment and I quote exactly as it is written… “Count #60 ~ Phone calls from CARDINE and BERLIN to “S.V.C.” threatening to kill her and her daughter during civil lawsuit”. I encourage you to research or call and get a copy of these documents since you do not want to believe anything that is posted. I have only posted documents when someone has come to this thread and tried to discredit myself, my daughter and all the other victims.
The following excerpts are from the Brief of the United States to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth District No. 06-4088 submitted by the Assistant United States Attorney regarding the United States opinion and documented evidence, again available to the public…
…engaged in an extensive, pervasive fraudulent scheme, stealing horses or the proceeds from their sales. Further, in one fraudulent sale, Cardine endangered a child rider by assuring the parent that the horse was sufficiently calm for such a young rider when in fact he knew the horse spooked regularly and was quite dangerous. (J.A. 100-01).
…knowingly engaged in extensive fraud within the equestrian industry (J.A. 74-84), were likely to repeat the fraud as indicated by the extensive and pervasive nature of his fraudulent conduct (J.A. 74-84), and had abused and improperly cared for several horses resulting in the euthanasia of at least one and the loss of an eye by another (J.A. 77-78, 81, 83)
…Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office Detective Wolfe wrote that based on his extensive investigation, “It is my opinion that these two individuals have plagued members of the equine society and would continue to be a detriment to these individuals should they be allowed to return to their former professions and activities.” (J.A. 75).
…There was also evidence in the Presentence Investigation Report that the defendants had knowingly endangered a child rider by placing the rider on a horse known to be dangerously unsteady, which had led the district court to apply the sentencing guidelines enhancement for conscious or reckless risk of serious bodily injury under U.S.S.G. § 2F1.1(b)(6)(A). (J.A. 100-01, 117, 123).
So as for watching your back or being alarmed then I will leave that decision up to you. There are pages that I have not even pulled from but would be glad to get your opinion on the rest of them. This has never been a case of he said/she said as I do NOT think the Federal Government pursues crimes they think are frivolous.
As for your concern that I need a Life and a Job, I have a real job, since I consider riding and showing a priviledge rather than a job and my life is quite wonderful!
