Feral Kitten - Mobile

No break of the leg luckily and the scrapes on his butt are healing which just confirms that they were related to the original injury. The vet’s exact words were that it looks like that bone was just obliterated where it’s missing in the xray. He’s currently running laps around my office and is obsessed with his crinkle tunnel. I usually have to take it up during meetings so that I can hear lol. He’s also decided he prefers the texture of towels over soft beds so that’s why I have a towel on top of his bed now.

Surgery is set for the 25th he’ll have the amputation, neuter and microchip done. We’re incredibly lucky my husband’s mom runs a 5013c rescue mostly focused on providing supplies and surgery for Pitt bulls but she helps others when needed. We didn’t ask but she offered to sponsor his surgery since he is a true rescue. At our local shelter he would have most likely been put down they can’t cover any surgery and adopt half of the animals out not even fixed. We’ll make a donation towards his neuter but since I’m already $500 in to vet care and still have a few vaccine appointments coming up it’s a big relief.

Oh, that’s a huge help.

I hope the surgery goes well and he’s back up and running around in no time.

Great News on his “patronage” :smiley_cat:
But remember, there is a legion of COTH Kitten Aunties, always willing ng & able to dribble contributions to “our” cats :sunglasses:

Thanks we’re good for now but I appreciate the reminder  Really getting the tail surgery done is the big expense and hump in his recovery so I’m glad it’ll be taken care of.

They think my dog has sterile nodular panniculitis which is related to an autoimmune issue. It can’t be confirmed until the masses actually break the skin and are more like pustules/lesions…yay lol. My vet doesn’t want to treat with any of the immune suppressant meds unless she gets worse or has other symptoms. A number of the google symptoms are pain/discomfort related but she’s on a bunch of meds for her hip dysplasia which might be keeping those at bay already. So not bad news which is a relief and it’s treatable and not life threatening but also not great news like it’s benign fatty tumors.

He looks like Peeps little brother!

I’m sorry it wasn’t something like fatty tumors but am glad for you and her that it is treatable and not more serious.

What an absolute cutie! And what a horrible x-ray - my goodness. I expected to see a fractured vertebrae or two, but not an entire section just gone. How does that even happen?!

His pics brightened my day! So glad you’re getting help $ for the surgery. Sometimes owning pets is like having multiple holes in the boat that is your wallet.

I hope your dog stabilizes. It would be nice if these mysterious maladies would disappear as quickly as they appear

Is he painful in the tail area? In general when he’s moving around or when you touch the area?

He is so adorable!! He really picked the right home!

He doesn’t seem painful running around he plays a lot pretty much all day. A week ago he was really sore where the swelling is where that missing bit of bone on the X-ray is. This last visit he wasn’t as sore but still a little reactive. He doesn’t like us petting his hind end so we stick to the front half and he loves belly rubs. I’m hoping after he fully heals from surgery that the residual discomfort goes away. The vet says we can also try gabapentin if he seems sore. She said sometimes they need just a good couple weeks of it to reset everything and help them adjust and some with this injury have to stay on it.

Fingers crossed! Many jingles being sent your way. Gabapentin is really good for nerve pain, so hope that helps.

Yep! If he’s still not liking us petting his hind end after surgery we’ll try it. Right now he’s so tiny and we know until surgery it’s going to bother him we’re just letting it be. Personality wise he’s not acting in pain which is why the vet is comfortable staying status quo. He’s finishing up his bottle of antibiotics because of the scabs that are still there.

Prime day kitten tree! I put it where it’s at so that once he figures out the top level he can also get on the cat window seat. It was actually more difficult to find a shorter tree that would be big enough for the adult cats once they’re all integrated and he’s grown. Pic of one of them testing it out last night after I built it lol.
