How is her knee?
@enjoytheride Her knee was HORRIBLE for a while but it finally looks like a hairy knee that needs a good shaving I’ll post a picture once she sheds out. Originally I was concerned that she would need surgery at sound point but she now has a clean bill of health and surprisingly never took a lame step even at its worst.
Honestly Gemma was not a part of “my plan” I had originally had a knee jerk moment when I saw a pair on Bowie for sale and bought them
When mom and baby arrived they were insanely thin and baby passed shortly after arrival.
My heart honestly broke for June to have lost her foal, so I got her Gemma to hang out with my plan was to bring them both to good health and find them new homes. I was told Gemma is very wild and she was haha they were not lying.
June put weight on (and some) and recently found her new home and well Gemma’s with me for good. I convinced her to trust people, so I need to make sure she never ends up in auction again
Wow. You are really racking up the good karma points! June looks amazing in her after picture. So sorry about the foal.
Thank you ready to receive some good karma haha! I’m from Hawaii and now living in TX
is that bad karma?! I had to eventually close my eyes because the amount of neglected horses is just a bit more than I’m used to
the shipments to Mexico got me good when I first moved here haha all very rewarding!
I’m in Arizona and I understand what you’re saying. What some people consider a horse as just being “not fat” is disheartening.
I’m sorry June and her foal arrived in such deplorable condition, and that the foal died. Yet glad that the mare survived and you found her a good home. Gemma looks great!
Little Gemma Update… she is looking fabulous. Still holding onto winter woolies but finally shedding out. Here’s a video from September 2024 to now

She went from absolutely terrified to in your pocket pony
Wow. That is an amazing transformation. In her demeanor and outlook, as well as physically.
What horses most need – someone who cares enough to take good care of them. A great starting point, whatever the future path. She’s gorgeous!
Thank you! It was a risk purchasing her I thought she would either have a massive glow up (I think this is right) or she’ll look like a donkey haha
It’s so true that love and kindness are the absolute best solution for bringing the horses best self to the surface. She’s a yearling now and I’m just so excited to see the transformation in another year.
I don’t know how I missed this thread before now, but I LOVE Gemma and June. Two good looking girls it seems you have put on the right path to being ladies. Kudos!
Thank you @JBCool. It’s been a fun journey! Back home there is not an auction around. So this is my first experience purchasing from auction. There has been lows and highs but now it’s just a blast.
