Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks

I just got in touch with him. He sounds exactly like what I want. Has anyone seen him? He’s about 6 hrs from me. I’d consider just having him shipped here.

For those of you considering horses, there are some very helpful vets up there who will give a beastie the once-over for a VERY REASONABLE fee
There are also some great shippers listed on the site who are also doing all they can to get these horses to new homes too.

I picked up two lovely horses last year and they turned out to be nicer than I expected. I’ll happily share my experiences with anyone who shoots me a PM (nothing to hide, I just don’t want to bog down this thread).

Sorry for the delay in answering MCS - I was doing my barn chores…

I’ve only seen Wing out for his interview and I also go and love on him every time I’m in that barn. You could PM Louise for vet info if you’d like a vet check.

If his trainer was considering him as a pony Wingsy must be pretty stable and sensible. I’d like to know what his registered name is… you’ll have to tell us if you get him!

In the mean time I’ll check that phone number - we have several other horses listed for this trainer…sorry for the inconvenience.

maunder-do you know anything about Live Action? Did you do his interview? Any observations are very helpful  I’m just trying to make sure I make this decision with as much info as possible, considering I’m trying to buy a new horse sight-unseen

I did his interview and took that horrible photo - sorry ;). We only take a few minutes to write down the basics and take their photos. He was a good boy for his trainer, and when he was walking away from me towards the grass I remarked to her that he had a nice free movement from the shoulder. That’s when she told me he was a very good mover. He has a very cute face - very showy.

Why has no one bought Outskip? I count four legs in her photo, so I’m at a loss for why no one has snapped her up! sigh I want her so much…

I bet she is just waiting for you!

Oh how I love Redemption! Just gorgeous! Hope they all find good homes.

Agh…I have a short list. Lucky to Cope, Carr Ride, and Maria’s Treasure (I don’t like mares, I don’t really want a tall horse, and yet she’s gorgeous and has “hunter” written all over her.)

FL people, if I call on these horses and set up a vet for one of them, would someone from FLTAP, depending on what day/time it was, be able to meet my brother and help him find his way around the barns? I really would feel better about having someone I know look at the horse if I’m going to do this and be there for the vet check (my brother’s been riding as long as I have and I trust him to know what he’s looking at.) He’d be coming up from Westchester.

(And if anyone knows a not-$1500/month-place to keep a horse down near where my brother lives, he ought to be talked into Hillbilly Deluxe. He DOES like tall horses!)

Went to go see him with a friend…gorgeous stud! She had an Xray done of a knee they said was tapped & a bit sore, and it wasn’t good, so she passed. Too bad, b/c he is a beauty!

Absolutely! There are three of us that (depending on the day) could meet your brother at the gate and escort him to the barns. PM me, Louise or foundationmare and we’ll be happy to try to accommodate the appointment.

I believe that Outskip’s trainer is still holding on to her because she’s running well for him. He LOVES this mare. If you are interested though it wouldn’t hurt to call on her because the end of the season is approaching and he could possibly be persuaded to part with her ;). It’s possible that folks have called on her but the trainer has told me that he’d have to have the right price for her - and only he knows what “the right price” is  'cause he hasn’t told us.

We will try as best we can to accomodate him. Most of us work, so the weekend would really be best. The track vets are there on Saturday, but Sunday is dark day, with no racing, so they are not there.

I’m on my lunch, at work, right now. When I get home, I’ll PM you with the vet’s numbers. There are three of them, and they are all very good.

We’ll certainly help you as best we can, though, as volunteers, we have to remain impartial and cannot give you any opinions of the horse’s condition.

MC, I just want to say that anytime I have ever gone out on a limb and just had one shipped ALL of my expectations have been met - and more. I’ve never been disappointed.

What is that saying… Luck Favors The Bold?!!!

Good luck!!

Argh, the “right price” is probably very high… which makes sense, as she’s a super nice horse. IMO, she’s the best horse that’s been posted all year. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to buy a really high quality horse. If she had a missing leg, I could probably afford her .

Must say i don’t tend to look at these listing since i’m on the otherside of the country and in Canada. But was bored so i looked… lol

Loooove Muskateer! Can’t beat a dapple grey. Looks like a sweetie.

Also looove Ernie the appy pony horse.

P.

Muskateer is from the same barn I got my boy from. If Market View is any indication, they take very good care of their horses. He is very sweet and trusting and LOVES peppermints! His legs look great too!

OMG, I am in love with Dan & John! He is just one of the good things that comes in a small package that I drool over, but I can not have another horse. :frowning:

LOFF HER!!!

Thanks, maunder, Louise–let me get with him (it would HAVE to be a weekend if he can do it, he works M-F) and let me sort out if this is truly feasibly (money is not the problem, having an immediate destination suitable for an OTTB is.)

My brother would basically just need someone to show him where he’s supposed to go–he’s ridden as long as I have and has a pretty good idea what he’s looking at (plus what I’m looking for.) So totally understand on an inability to comment (beyond “This is trainer X.”)
